Itinerary

1. Day 01: Arrive in Paro drive to Thimphu

   • Arrival at Paro International Airport. Meet your guide and drive to Thimphu (1.5 hours, 55 km).
   • Check-in at the hotel and relax. If time permits, explore Thimphu city. 

   Overnight, Thimphu

2. Day 02: Halt in Thimphu

   • Visit Tashichho Dzong, the seat of Bhutan's government. 
   • Explore the National Memorial Chorten. 
   • Visit the Folk Heritage Museum and the National Library. 
   • See the Buddha Dordenma, a gigantic Buddha statue. 
   • Explore the local markets and crafts bazaar.

3. Day 03: Thimphu to Punakha

   • Drive to Punakha (2-3 hours, 74 km). Stop at Dochula Pass (3,100m) for stunning views of the Himalayas. 
   • Visit the Punakha Dzong, the "Palace of Great Happiness," and explore the suspension bridge over the Pho Chu River.

4. Day 04: Punakha Drupchen

   • Participate in the Punakha Drupchen, a unique festival featuring dramatic recreations of scenes from Bhutanese history, traditional masked dances, and rituals. Explore the local area and interact with the friendly locals. 

   Overnight: Punakha

5. Day 05: Punakha to Paro

   • Drive back to Paro (4-5 hours, 125 km). Visit the Simtokha Dzong en route. Explore the Rinpung Dzong, an impressive fortress monastery. Visit the National Museum housed in the Ta Dzong.

   Overnight: Paro

6. Day 06: Halt in Paro

   • Visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest temples in Bhutan. 
   • Explore the ruins of Drukgyel Dzong, a historical fortress. 
   • Stroll around Paro town, visit local markets and enjoy the serene beauty. 

   Overnight: Paro

7. Day 07: Hike to Taktshang

   • Early morning hike to Taktshang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest). Enjoy breathtaking views from the monastery perched on a cliffside.
   • Return to Paro and relax at your hotel.

8. Day 08: Departure from Paro

   • Transfer to Paro International Airport for your departure flight. Bid farewell to Bhutan with beautiful memories of your trip.
