Description
Combining time in Zanzibar with a safari on the Tanzanian mainland is a fantastic thing to do. And there’s no better place to take that safari than Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous Game Reserve) in Tanzania’s south. Nyerere is easy to reach from Zanzibar, and it’s a brilliant park known for its diverse and abundant wildlife as well as some of southern Tanzania’s most beautiful landscapes. When you factor in the wonders of Zanzibar, from the history and architecture of Stone Town to its gorgeous beaches and glorious sunsets and a classic safari experience in Nyerere, you have so much to look forward to.
Itinerary

Safari at Nyerere National Park
- 5:30 am – Pick up from the hotel and drive to the airport.
- 6:30 am – Flight from Zanzibar to Selous Game Reserve (also known as Nyerere National Park).
- 7:30 am – Arrive at Selous, pick up from the airstrip and begin the game drive.
- Continue with the game drive until evening but with a stopover for lunch on one of the Selous lakes.
- A wide range of wild animals can be seen on the way, such as Lions, Elephant, Buffaloes, Giraffes, many species of Antelopes, Hippos, Crocodiles, hound-rends species of birds, wild dogs, hyenas, warthogs and many others.
- 3:30 pm – Slowly make your way back to the airstrip.
- 4:00 pm – Head back to Zanzibar, pick up from the airport and return to your hotel.
