The itinerary

Day 01

Mt Tavurvur Hike and Hot Springs Excursion

• 8:00 AM: Enjoy a 15-minute transfer from the wharf to the Hot Springs, where the road ends and your adventure begins.

• 8:15 AM: Begin your adventure and enjoy spectacular views along the hike. It takes approximately 1 hour to reach the top.

• 9:15 AM: Arrive at the top and enjoy a 20-minute unreal volcanic experience. The view from the top is a million-dollar view, and the feeling of being inside an active volcano is truly surreal.

• 9:35 AM: Commence your descent. In about 40 minutes, you will be back at the base, where your transport will be ready and waiting.

• 10:15 AM: Arrive at the Hot Springs and transfer back to Rabaul Port.

• 10:30 AM: Tour terminates at Rabaul Port.

Know before you go

• Mt Tavurvur is approximately 223 meters above sea level.
• The volcanic rocks along the track are rather sharp, so watch where you put your hands for support.
• It gets really hot and humid during the day, so drink lots of water.
• Bring electrolytes if you have any.
• There are lots of loose volcanic rocks that may wear you down. Your local guides are there to support you.
• Locals charge extra for drones. The highest fee is K200 extra, or you can negotiate.
