Day 01

Sintra Heritage and Coastal Journey to Cascais

• On this tour, you will learn about the monuments that form part of Sintra's heritage. In 1992, UNESCO expanded the World Heritage categories and added the Cultural Landscape category. Sintra was classified as a World Heritage Site under the "Cultural Landscape" category on December 6, 1995, during the 19th Session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee held in Berlin.
• The tour begins with a climb up the mountain to see the Moorish Castle, a wall built during the Islamic occupation. You will then visit the Royal Palace, the Palácio da Pena, which was built in two different periods and served first the monks and later the king of Portugal.
• After that, you will have the opportunity to see one of the most mysterious places in Sintra: Quinta da Regaleira, a place linked to Freemasonry that looks like a fairy-tale castle, somewhere you cannot miss and will want to discover until the very end. In Monserrate Park, visit its palace, which features a mixture of Arab and Indian styles, along with a botanical garden.
• After a short break to taste a traditional pastry and learn about its history - but don't tell anyone, it's a surprise!
• The journey continues to Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point in Europe. It then follows the coastal road, passing by Praia do Guincho and Boca do Inferno, and ends in Cascais.
