Itinerary
-
Day 1: Journey from Arusha to Karatu and then to Lake Eyasi
- In the early hours of the morning, we will embark on a journey using public transportation to reach Karatu.
- Upon arrival, a delightful lunch will be served before continuing our expedition to the enchanting Lake Eyasi. This lake is home to the Hadzabe tribe, a community of just under 1000 individuals. Among them, approximately 300-400 Hadzabe people maintain their traditional way of life as hunter-gatherers. Their lifestyle closely mirrors that of their ancestors, who thrived for millennia, making them one of Africa's last remaining active hunter-gatherer societies.
-
Day 2: Walking with Hadzabe in Lake Eyasi Bush
- At 05:45 in the morning, you will begin your drive to the dwellings of the Hadzabe tribe. This early start allows you to witness the bush and its inhabitants' awakening. The journey itself is an experience as you pass through the changing landscapes of Tanzania.
- Upon arrival at the Hadzabe dwellings, you will be warmly welcomed by the tribe. You will then join them in their daily activities, which mainly revolve around foraging for food. This involves searching for fruits, tubers, and honey in the bush. The Hadzabe have a deep understanding of their environment and are skilled at locating food sources.
-
Day 3: Drive back to Arusha
- On the third day of your adventure, you will embark on a journey back to Arusha after bidding farewell to the Hadzabe village tribesmen. This entails driving back to the city, marking the end of your exploration with the indigenous people.
- As part of your meal plan for this day, you will be provided with breakfast to fuel your return trip. Additionally, you can expect all-inclusive accommodation, ensuring a comfortable stay during your final night in Arusha.
