Trek to Laguna Esmeralda and Ojo del Albino Glacier

  • We begin our excursion by picking up the passengers at their accommodation and heading north of Ushuaia along National Route N°3 for 20 km until we reach our base of operations, where we prepare to start this trekking adventure.
  • We cross the Tierra Mayor Valley, entering lenga and peat forests, followed by a final ascent until we reach Laguna Esmeralda, whose incredible colour comes from the melting of the Ojo del Albino glacier.
  • We continue forward for about 650 meters. Once we leave the vegetation limit, we advance through mountain terrain with continuous slopes that require the greatest physical effort of the route.
  • Traveling between large rocks, we reach a natural terrace with views of Laguna Esmeralda and the Sorondo mountain range, in which Mount Olivia and the 5 Hermanos mountain stand out. Finally, we ascend to the Ojo del Albino glacier.
  • At this excellent point, we enjoy the lunch box and rest before beginning the return to the base of operations, where the vehicles take us back to the hotel in Ushuaia.
