Embark on an 11-day adventure in Lobéké National Park, in southeastern Cameroon within the Congo Basin. Covering 217,854 hectares, the park was established on March 19, 2001, as part of the Tri-National Sangha (TNS) conservation initiative. Teeming with biodiversity, Lobéké is home to elephants, gorillas, chimpanzees, and monkeys, while its watchtowers near natural salt marshes offer excellent opportunities to observe and film these magnificent animals in their natural habitat.

The itinerary

Day 01

Arrival in Yaoundé

  • Upon arrival at the international airport, the tour staff will welcome you.
  • After clearing customs formalities, your guide will assist you with the rest of the arrival process, including currency exchange, and then transfer you to the hotel.

Day 02

Journey from Yaoundé to Lomié

  • Depart from Yaoundé in the morning.
  • Travel to Lomié via Ayos and Abang Bang, enjoying a picturesque discovery of the Equatorial forest along the way.
  • Upon arrival in Lomié, check in at the Raphia Hotel and enjoy dinner.

Overnight.

Day 03

From Lomié to Mambélé via Yokadouma

  • Wake up early and enjoy breakfast.
  • Depart for Lobéké via Yokadouma, where you will have the opportunity to discover pygmy villages along the route.
  • Reach Mambélé and settle in at Camp Kombo for dinner.

Overnight stay.

Day 04

Into Lobéké National Park

  • Start the day with an early wake-up call followed by breakfast, then begin the journey to Lobéké National Park. The trip includes a 4 km car ride followed by a 6 km trek through the forest.
  • After reaching the camp and settling in, head to Mirador No. 1 (small savannah) for animal observation, including lowland gorillas, monkeys, forest elephants, and various birds such as parrots and green pigeons.

Conclude the day with dinner and an overnight stay in tents.

Day 05

Wildlife Search at Petite Savane

  • After breakfast, join the guide for a guided excursion in search of animals, with the chance to see gorillas, monkeys, chimpanzees, and others.
  • Enjoy the beautiful scenery from the watchtower, then return to camp for dinner.

Overnight in tents.

Day 06

Petite Savane to Djangui

  • After breakfast, depart for the second watchtower at Djangui.
  • Set up camp and have lunch.
  • Continue with animal watching and look out for gorillas, buffaloes, elephants, bongos, chimpanzees, monkeys, and a multitude of birds before returning to camp for dinner.

Overnight in tents.

Day 07

Djangui to Djembe

  • Depart for Djembe, 104 km inside the park, after breakfast.
  • Arrive and settle into camp for a quick lunch.
  • Embark on a guided tour to watch animals such as gorillas, elephants, buffaloes, sitatunga, and bongos before sunset.

Dinner and overnight in the bungalows of Djembe.

Day 08

Return via Mambélé to Yokadouma

  • Prepare to hit the road to Yokadouma today and enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way.
  • Savor local cuisine at Mambélé before continuing on to Yokadouma.

Dinner and overnight.

Day 09

Yokadouma to Yaoundé Departure

  • Wake up early, have breakfast, and depart for Yaoundé.
  • Transfer to the hotel or airport to catch your next flight.
