Scenic Journey Through the Patagonian Andes to Tolhuin
- We pick up passengers from their accommodations and head north through the province along National Route N° 3.
- We cross the Patagonian Andes and witness beautiful landscapes combining forests, valleys, mountains, and more.
- Our first stop is Paso Beban Viewpoint, in the Tierra Mayor Natural Valley and Landscape Reserve, where we learn how the island's peculiar geography works.
- We then arrive at the second viewpoint, the famous Garibaldi Pass, from where you can see Escondido and Fagnano lakes.
- Here, we descend and also have time to take photos.
- After crossing the pass, we enter the ecotone, a transition zone between the Patagonian forest in the south of the island and the northern steppe, where we will see ñirantales (pure ñire forests) until we reach the lake that cuts Tierra del Fuego Island in two: Fagnano Lake, also known as Lake Khami in the Selk'nam language. Fagnano Lake is shared with Chile and is part of the Heart of the Island Provincial Reserve. At its bottom lies the Fagnano-Magallanes Fault, the meeting point of the South American and Scotia tectonic plates.
- We enjoy a coffee break here, surrounded by the impressive landscape and in front of the striking reflecting pool.
- We continue to Tolhuin, where we eat in a country restaurant, and then begin the return to the city of Ushuaia, where the journey ends.
