9-Day Tunisia Heritage and Desert Adventure from Tunis to Hammamet

• On arrival at Tunis-Carthage Airport, our driver will be waiting for you with a sign bearing your name.
• You will then be transferred to your hotel for an overnight stay.

• Today, enjoy a city tour through the archaeological sites of Tunis. Your first stop will be the old Medina of Tunis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
• Next, visit the Bardo Museum, considered the second most important museum after the one in Cairo for its Roman mosaic collection.
• Then continue to the archaeological site of Carthage and discover its Roman ruins, including Byrsa Hill, the Punic sanctuary, the Antonine Baths, and the Punic harbor.
• Finally, stroll through the alleys of Sidi Bou Said, the blue-and-white village overlooking the Bay of Tunis.

• After breakfast, depart for Kairouan, the holy city of Tunisia, and visit the Great Mosque, also known as the Okba Ibn Nafaa Mosque.
• Continue to the old Medina, which is inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
• You will also stop at the Aghlabid Basins, considered among the most important hydraulic works in the history of the Muslim world.
• Proceed to the Mausoleum of the Barber, dedicated to the barber of the Prophet.
• Lunch will be served in a local restaurant. After the meal, enjoy free time to walk through the old Medina and visit Bir Barouta, a holy well linked by legend to Zamzam in Mecca.

• After breakfast, head to the archaeological site of Sofetula.
• Continue to Tozeur and visit the old Medina. Walk through its streets for around 1 hour with your guide, discovering its history and architecture. The city is also known as the city of oases and palm groves. Here, you can also take part in an optional carriage ride, not included and payable on site.
• Lunch will be served in Gafsa. After lunch, visit the Museum of Dar Chraiet, which presents the traditions of Tozeur in particular and the Djerid region in general.

• After breakfast, depart for Chebika, a destination chosen by many filmmakers.
• Hike for around 40 minutes with an English-speaking local guide to visit the ancient village and the spring that emerges from the side of the mountain.
• Continue to Midès to admire its canyons.
• Then head to Tamerza to admire its waterfall.
• Lunch is included in a typical restaurant. After the meal, proceed to Mos Espa, the largest and most well-known Star Wars site in Tunisia.
• To get there, fasten your seatbelts as you cross the famous salt lake of Chott El Gharsa, the big sand dunes, and rocky obstacles.
• At the end of the day, witness an amazing sunset in front of the Star Wars sets.
• Stop by the famous basket of Nefta to enjoy a good tea and admire the landscape.

• After breakfast, head to Ksar Ghilane, crossing the salt lake of Chott Djerid, the largest salt lake in North Africa, covering more than 5,000 square km.
• Along the way, pass through a petrified sand site and discover a method of cooling hot water used to irrigate the palm grove in southern Tunisia.
• In Douz, the gateway to the desert, enjoy free time to visit the souk and the possibility of a quad ride or camel ride in the dunes, available at extra cost and not included.
• Lunch will be at a local restaurant, then continue to Ksar Ghilane. Arrive at the oasis, where the different color of the sand embraces the greenery of the palm trees.
• In the center of the oasis, there is a hot spring where you can swim.
• Before sunset, arrive in front of the camp and admire a unique landscape where the sun hides shyly on the horizon and the sand stretches as far as the eye can see.
• Settle into your tent, and around 19h, enjoy a demonstration of sand bread making, with bread prepared under the embers.
• Dinner follows, with free time to admire the stars.

• Depart for Matmata, the troglodyte village.
• Stop at the Berber village of Tamazret to take pictures and enjoy a good rosemary tea.
• Continue to visit a house dug underground, where your host will welcome you with tea served with olive oil and honey.
• Then head to El Jem to visit its marvelous Roman amphitheater, considered the second most important after that of Rome, as well as its museum.
• Lunch will be at a local restaurant. After visiting these monuments, depart for Sousse for dinner and an overnight stay.

• After breakfast, visit the old Medina of Sousse, the Sousse Archaeological Museum, and Port El Kantaoui.
• Lunch will be at a local restaurant. After lunch, head to Hammamet and visit its old Medina.
• You will then be dropped off in Tunis for your onward flight home or at your place of accommodation.
