10-Day Tunisia Cultural Tour with Ksar Ghilane Desert Camp

• According to your arrival time, our guide and driver will be waiting for you at Tunis Carthage Airport with a sign bearing your name to ensure your transfer to the hotel.

• Wake up gently and have breakfast at the hotel before departing for your first day of discoveries.
• The day will begin with a visit to the old medina of Tunis, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
• Visit the medresas and step back in time through the architecture and the stories told by your guide.
• Continue to the famous Bardo Museum, the most important museum for mosaic collections.
• Departure to Carthage for free lunch.
• After the meal, visit the various sites of Carthage and travel through time between the Punic and Roman civilizations.
• In the late afternoon, depart for the village of Sidi Bou Said and enjoy free time to walk through its narrow streets.

Return to the hotel, dinner, and overnight.

• After breakfast, depart for the archaeological site of Utica.
• Continue to Bizerte to visit its marvelous port and medina. Enjoy free time for lunch in front of the port, where the specialty is grilled fish.
• After the meal, head to Dougga, this wonderful UNESCO World Heritage Site.
• On the way, cross Testour, the Andalusian city where you will see the mysterious clock with the numbers upside down.
• Upon arrival in Dougga, visit its various components with your guide, then depart for the hotel for dinner and overnight.

• After breakfast, depart for Kairouan, the holy city of Tunisia, known for its great mosque (Okba Ibn Nafaa Mosque) and its medina, which is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list.
• Your first visit will be to the famous Aghlabid Basins, considered among the most important hydraulic works in the history of the Muslim world.
• Continue to the Great Mosque for a visit, then to the Mausoleum of the Barber, the barber of the Prophet.
• Enjoy free lunch. After the meal, you will have free time to walk through the old medina and visit Bir Barouta, a holy well according to the legend related to Zemzem in Mecca.

• After breakfast, depart for Tozeur, the city of oases and palm groves, crossing Gafsa.
• Enjoy free lunch in Gafsa. Upon arrival in Tozeur, visit the old medina.
• Walk through its streets for around 1 hour with your guide, discovering its history and architecture. Then, there is the possibility of a carriage ride in the palm grove of Tozeur, not included and payable on site.
• At the end of the day, visit the Dar Chraiet Museum, which summarizes the traditions of Tozeur in particular and the Djerid region in general.

• After breakfast, depart for Chebika, a destination for many filmmakers.
• Hike for around 40 minutes with an English-speaking local guide to visit the ancient village and the water source that springs from the side of the mountain.
• Continue to Mides to admire its canyons, then to Tamerza to admire its waterfall.
• Lunch is included in a typical restaurant. After the meal, continue to the largest Star Wars site in Tunisia, Mos Espa village.
• To get there, fasten your belts as you cross the famous salt lake of Chott El Gharsa, the big sand dunes, and rocky obstacles.
• By the end of the day, witness an amazing sunset in front of the film sets.
• On the way back to the hotel, pass through the famous basket of Nefta to enjoy good tea and admire the landscape.

• After breakfast, head to Ksar Ghilane, crossing the salt lake of Chott Djerid, the largest salt lake in North Africa with more than 5,000 square km.
• You will also pass through a petrified sand site and discover a method used in southern Tunisia to cool hot water for irrigating the palm grove.
• Arrive in Douz, the desert gate, and enjoy free time to visit the souk, with the possibility of a quad ride or dromedary ride in the dunes at extra cost and not included. Enjoy free lunch, then continue to Ksar Ghilane.
• Arrive at the oasis, where the different color of the sand embraces the greenery of the palm trees.
• In the center of the oasis, there is a hot spring where you can swim.
• Before sunset, arrive in front of the camp and admire a unique landscape where the sun hides shyly on the horizon and the sand stretches as far as the eye can see. Settle into your tent, and around 19:00 enjoy a demonstration of sand bread making, with bread prepared under the embers.

• After breakfast, depart for Matmata, the troglodyte village.
• Stop at the Berber village of Tamazret to take pictures and enjoy a good rosemary tea.
• Continue to visit a house dug underground. Your host will welcome you with good tea served with olive oil and honey.
• Later, move on to El Jem to visit its marvelous Roman amphitheater, considered the second most important after that of Rome, and also visit its museum.
• Lunch will be taken on the way. After visiting these monuments, depart for Hammamet for dinner and overnight.

• Today, you will have a free day in Hammamet. You can explore the city, enjoy the beaches, or participate in optional activities.
• Optional activity: Private full-day golfing in Hammamet.

• A free day to rest a bit after 8 days of discoveries.
• Pick-up from Hammamet to Tunis Airport and end of our services.
