10-Day Tunisia Exploration Tour from Tunis to Hammamet via the Desert

• Afterward, you will be transferred to your hotel.

• After breakfast, head to the old medina of Tunis for a cultural tour rather than a shopping one.
• Stroll through its narrow alleys and admire its architecture.
• Learn more about the old medina with your travel guide and visit its must-see attractions: Zitouna Mosque, medresas, Kasbah Boulevard, and more.
• Head to the military museum to learn more about Tunisian history.
• Continue to La Goulette and enjoy a grilled fish meal.
• At 2:30 PM, head to Carthage, the Roman city, and visit its different components: Byrsa Hill, Antonine Baths, Punic sanctuary, and more.
• Enjoy free time to stroll in Sidi Bou Said, the blue-and-white village overlooking the Bay of Tunis and offering a unique view.
• Finally, head back to your hotel.

• After breakfast, start your day with a drive to the northwest of Tunisia.
• Make a stop to visit the archaeological site of Utica, considered one of the oldest cities in the western Mediterranean basin and founded by the Phoenicians in 1101 BC.
• Your next stop will be the Andalusian town of Testour.
• Stroll through its alleys and admire the Andalusian architecture.
• Discover the minaret of the Great Mosque of Testour, equipped with a unique clock whose hands rotate counterclockwise and whose numbers are placed upside down.
• Continue to Dougga, the most prestigious archaeological site in Tunisia, registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997.
• Enjoy a mid-day lunch at a 3-star hotel. You can choose your menu, though the hotel is famous for its wild boar. After the meal, head to Kairouan, the holy city.
• Arrive and visit its old medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

• Spend the day visiting the Great Mosque of Kairouan and the Barber Mausoleum (Sidi Sahbi).
• Our knowledgeable guide will share stories behind the construction of both sites.

• Arrive in Tozeur and visit its old medina. Depending on the day, there may be a possibility of taking a carriage tour to visit the city's oldest palm grove (extra).
• In the evening, return to your booked hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

• After breakfast, depart to visit the superb mountain oasis of Chebika.
• Head to Tamerza and visit its famous waterfall.
• Discover the great canyons of Midès.
• Enjoy lunch in a typical restaurant with the locals, savoring a typical Tunisian menu. After lunch, head directly to the sandy village of Sabria.
• Cross the salt lake of Chott Djerid, the largest salt lake in North Africa, with a photo break along the way.
• Visit Debebecha, the petrified sand site.
• Experience the sunset over the sand dunes stretching as far as the eye can see. There is a possibility of a camel ride to watch the sunset in the heart of the dunes (extra).
• At 7:30 p.m., attend a demonstration of the preparation of sand bread, baked under sand and embers.
• Dinner will be served at the camp, followed by a musical evening around the campfire, included in our package.

• After breakfast, depart for Matmata, the Berber village.

• Discover these houses dug underground and this way of life, and admire the generosity and modesty of these cave dwellers.
• Continue to the Berber village of Toujane and enjoy a photo stop.
• Head to Chenini, another Berber village, and visit its different components, including houses dug horizontally into the mountain and the mosque.
• Visit the seven dormant mosques of Chenini and learn about their legend.

• Visit a local workshop and attend a pottery-making demonstration.
• Stop at the port harbor to see the pirate ship.

• Visit 'The Gharib', the oldest Jewish synagogue in North Africa.
• Stroll through the alleys of Djerba Hood, an urban art event where artists from around the world took over the Tunisian village of Erriadh on the island of Djerba to create 250 works, launched by Galerie Itinerrance de Paris in June 2014.
• Continue to Houmt Souk, the city center, and enjoy free time to stroll through its narrow alleys.
