Day 01
Ushuaia to Caleta María through Tierra del Fuego
- Enjoy free time at the hotel in Ushuaia before heading northwest to Caleta María. Take in breathtaking views that combine the Andes mountain range, peat valleys, ñire forests, mountain glaciers, and more. Stop at Paso Garibaldi Viewpoint to appreciate the stunning Escondido and Fagnano lakes.
- After crossing the pass, appreciate the ecotone marking the transition from the mountain forests in the south to the Fuegian steppe in the north. After 100 km, arrive in Tolhuin for lunch at the head of Fagnano Lake, then continue along National Route No. 3 for 95 km until joining alternative Route B. From there, cross the Chilean border and follow routes Y-769 and Y-85. Along the way, see more steppe, guanacos, and various bird species such as cauquenes, bandurrias, and petrels, passing through Pampa Guanaco and the natural reserves of Yendegaia and Karukinka before finally arriving at Caleta María.
- Arrive at Caleta María for a warm welcome dinner. Here, you will be served steak lamb, a typical local flavour, and after dinner, spend the night in rustic cabins located 15 minutes away. The place is near Fagnano Lake, where the peace and silence of the Fuegian forest create a magical environment. Rest in our cosy cabins.
