Nairobi to Masai Mara via the Great Rift Valley
Day 1: Drive from Nairobi to Mara through the Great Rift Valley
Meet and greet services on arrival at the airport, or pick up from your hotel at 0800 hrs by our driver-guide. Depart for Masai Mara via the Great Rift Valley viewpoint, passing through Narok town, and arrive in Masai Mara in time for lunch, followed by a late afternoon game drive.
Dinner and overnight stay at the camp. Meal plan: Lunch and Dinner.
Day 2: Masai Mara Full Day
Spend the full day in Masai Mara with morning and afternoon game drives. You will have the opportunity to spot the Big Five, including lion, elephant, leopard, black rhino, and buffalo. Visit the Mara River, which nearly borders Kenya and Tanzania, where you may see hippos and very large Nile crocodiles lying in wait for prey as wildebeest cross on their annual quest to find new pastures.
Each year, Masai Mara plays host to the world's greatest natural spectacle, the Great Migration of wildebeest from Serengeti National Park, Tanzania, to Masai Mara, Kenya. From July to October, the promise of rain and fresh, life-giving grass in the north brings more than 1.3 million wildebeest together into a single massive herd. They pour across the border into the Mara, making a spectacular entrance in a surging column of life that stretches from horizon to horizon. At the Mara River, they gather on the banks before finally plunging forward through the raging waters, creating a frenzy as they fight against swift currents and waiting crocodiles.
Day 3: Masai Mara - Nairobi
Enjoy an early morning breakfast, with an optional Masai village visit. Experience the beauty of sunrise, which reveals the backdrop of Masai Mara, meaning "the dotted hills" in the Maa language. Then check out and drive back to Nairobi.
Arrive in Nairobi in the afternoon. You will be dropped off at either your hotel or the airport to connect with your homebound flight, depending on the arrangements, where the safari ends. Meal plan: Breakfast and Lunch.
