Day 01

Mount Tarn Hike and Patagonian Feast

  • Pick-up at your accommodation or cruise ship (departure at 07:00): Your private guide and chauffeur will pick you up from anywhere in Punta Arenas.

  • Pack check and briefing (10 minutes): After meeting you, your guide will give you a quick safety briefing and make sure everyone in your group is set up for success with appropriate clothing, footwear, and water.

  • Travel to the trailhead (45 minutes): Drive south of Punta Arenas to the trailhead, just 45 minutes outside the downtown core.

  • Hike on Mount Tarn (8.5-9 hours): After warming up your muscles, set out to enjoy your hike through the Patagonian forest. This 14 km (8.7 mi) in-and-back hike undulates steadily upward through the forest, with a total elevation gain of 825 m (2707 ft) throughout the trail. The time you spend hiking will vary based on weather conditions, group fitness, and interpretive moments on the trail. Usually, this hike will take 8.5 to 9 hours.

  • Trailhead reception (10 minutes): Return to the trailhead to celebrate your successful hike with a toast!

  • Travel to Agua Fresca (30 minutes): Travel back along the highway, stopping at some historical sites.

  • Enjoy a traditional Patagonian feast (1 hour): Visit Hosteria Agua Fresca - a historic ranch - for traditionally prepared regional food paired with a tasting of Chilean wines, beers, coffees, or fresh juices.

  • Travel back to Punta Arenas (30 minutes): With a full belly, enjoy another short van ride through the pampas and fields of bright lupins and yellow grasses.

  • Drop-off: Get dropped off anywhere in Punta Arenas to continue on your adventure!
