Balloon Excursion
Pre-Flight Briefing and Preparation:
- Guides brief you the night before the flight.
- Signing the waiver form.
- Guide pick-up early morning (4 am - 5 am) from camp/lodge.
- Arrival at the launch area by approximately 6 am.
- Pilot briefing on safety measures, launch & landing procedure, and what to expect.
Flight Experience:
- Planned takeoff around 6:30 am, subject to weather conditions.
- Boarding while the basket is on its side.
- Basket stands upright just before takeoff.
- Enjoying a great African sunrise shortly after elevation (weather-dependent). Birds-eye, uninterrupted view of Serengeti's vast plains.
- Pilot attempts to spot wildlife and adjusts altitude for better viewing.
- Flight duration typically around 1 hour +/- 15 mins, depending on weather.
- Opportunity to enjoy hot coffee during the flight.
Landing and Post-Flight Activities:
- Landing depends on landscape and wind speeds.
- Possibility of a few bumps or tipping over, but usually a smooth landing.
- Champagne celebration upon disembarking, with a brief history of the tradition.
- Transfer to a carefully selected bush breakfast area.
- Warm welcome by the team to enjoy a scrumptious plated breakfast.
- Issuance of certificates after breakfast.
- Return to accommodations or nearest airstrip to meet with a safari guide for further activities.
