The itinerary

Day 01

Arrival in Trujillo and Hotel Transfer

  • Welcome to Trujillo, the Spring Capital.

  • Our staff will pick you up from the airport or bus terminal.

  • Transfer to your hotel.

Day 02

Moche and Chimu Heritage around Trujillo

  • Visit the temples of the Sun and the Moon, a religious center of the Moche culture, which developed between 100 and 900 AD.

    • The archaeological complex showcases two large flat-topped pyramids, known as huacas.

  • Drive north of Trujillo to visit Huaca Dragon, also known as Huaca Arco Iris (Rainbow Pyramid), which belonged to the Chimu culture.

  • Continue to the ancient fishing village of Huanchaco for a seafood lunch.

    • Huanchaco is one of the most famous beaches in Peru, where you can see the traditional fishing boats, caballitos de totora, which are still in use today.

  • After lunch, continue to Chan Chan, the largest adobe city in America.

    • It was built by the Chimu and covers an area of about 20 square kilometers.

Day 03

El Brujo, Magdalena de Cao and Chiclayo

  • We drive to the Chicama Valley, about 60 km north of Trujillo, to visit El Brujo, another complex of the Moche civilization.

    • Archaeological excavations started here in 1990, and they found the Woman of Cao, a 1,500-year-old tattooed female mummy.

  • Visit the village of Magdalena de Cao to taste a traditional drink fermented underground for 1 to 2 years called "Añejo de Cao."

  • Visit Huaca Cao Viejo.

  • Explore the Cao Museum.

  • After the tour, we drive north to the commercial city of Chiclayo.

    • On the way, we pass through sugar and rice fields.

    • Stop for lunch in the countryside.

  • Arrive at your selected hotel by 4:00 pm.

Day 04

Huaca Rajada and the Royal Tombs of Sipán

  • Begin the excursion to the Huaca Rajada Archaeological Complex, where the tomb of the Lord of Sipán was found.

    • Visit the site museum, which displays remains of gold and silver pieces from older Moche rulers before the Sipán period.

  • Continue the tour to the Royal Tombs of the Lord of Sipán Museum in Lambayeque.

    • The museum exhibits the original remains of the Lord of Sipán, as well as more than 400 pieces including earmuffs, necklaces, jewelry, ornaments, and headdresses worked in gold, silver, turquoise, spondylus, cotton, and feathers.

  • End of services.
