Petite Terre, MUMA Museum and Dziani Lake Discovery
- Stop at La Barge
Join your guide and take the local pedestrian ferry, or "la Barge," for the 15-minute journey across the channel to the island of Petite Terre from the pier at Mamoudzou on the island of Grande Terre.
- Stop at MUMA Museum of Mayotte
After reaching Petite Terre, visit the Museum of Mayotte, a great place to learn about marine life, culture, and the history of Dzaoudzi.
- Stop at Mangrove Swamp / Boulevard des Crabs
Drive through a local village along its main street to reach the mangrove swamps in Badamiers, with some free time to admire the view of Grande Terre facing you. Enjoy the beauty of the lagoon and discover the mangrove swamp along a unique path through this mysterious forest.
- Stop at Dziani Lake
Drive through the village of Labattoir to reach Dziani Lake, a volcanic crater lake with emerald green waters. This beautiful feature, formed within an ancient crater, is filled with water that is twice as salty as the nearby Indian Ocean.
Embark on a guided walk up to the summit. The climb is roughly 150 metres, and the reward is spectacular. A 30-minute loop along part of the crater rim will leave you breathless, with panoramic views over the entire crater and the majestic island of Grande Terre in the distance.
- Stop at Badamiers
Walk back down the path, re-board the coach, and proceed to Badamiers, where the road rises gently to a path encircling the lake.
Marvel at the picturesque beauty of Dzaoudzi, Grande Terre in the distance, and the turquoise waters of the great north-eastern coral reef along the way.
Stop to relax and enjoy the landscapes of the lagoon and Grande Terre, with local entertainment by women with their "Mbiwis" or other special local animation, and savour fresh local juice served with tropical fruits.
Drive to the ferry and cross on the pedestrian ferry to arrive at Mamoudzou in Grande Terre.
