Day 01

Trogir Highlights and Ancient Salona

  • Jump back to ancient Greek times on the historic islet of the UNESCO town of Trogir, and hear the story of Kairos, the most famous Greek object found in the city.

  • See the medieval character of the islet and enjoy the lovely seaside promenade overlooking Čiovo Island. As the islet is home to more than 30 churches of different sizes and shapes, the tour ends at the town's Central Square, where you will see the magnificent Cathedral of St. Lawrence.

  • Pass through the Continental Gate and see the birthplace of Governor Petar Berislavić.

  • Walk through the narrow streets of the islet.

  • See the southern side of the islet with Kamerlengo Fortress, the Sea Gate, and the Small Loggia.

  • Continue to the Central Square to see the Great Loggia, City Hall, and the Cathedral of St. Lawrence.

  • Visit the site of Manastirine with the Frane Bulić memorial room in Tusculum Palace.

  • Tour the Episcopal centre with Basilica Urbana and Porta Cesarea.

  • Take a 25-minute car ride along the Bay of Kaštela to reach the ruins of ancient Salona, the capital of the Roman eastern Adriatic coast. It was the birthplace of Emperor Diocletian and features sarcophagi, defence walls, an aqueduct, and an amphitheatre.
