9-Day Indonesian Islands Tour from Maumere with Komodo and Kelimutu

• Arrival by morning flight at Maumere Airport, where you will meet the guide and, if time permits, go sightseeing.

• Visit Wuring fishermen village in Sikka, the traditional village of the Sikka clan.

• Stop by the Ledalero Museum to see ancient heritage and sites, including the old Flores ruins.

• Drive to Moni, with lunch served at a local restaurant.

Overnight at the hotel.

• Drive early in the morning up to Kelimutu to see the three coloured lakes. Upon arrival, walk 1.5 km to view the spectacle of the hard red, light blue, and black colours of Kelimutu Lake.

• Proceed to Jopu Ranggase to see the local traditional house with its ancient structure.

• Drive to Nggela to see local women at their hand-weaving work.

• Head west through Ende with some stopovers.

Upon arrival in Riung, check in at the hotel and rest.

• Early morning departure from Bajawa to Riung.

• Stop at Soa hot spring for swimming and breakfast.

• Continue the trip to Riung and check in at Pondok SVD or Bintang Wisata.

• Take a boat trip from the pier of Riung and visit the Riung Marine Park.

• Sail to Ontoloe Island to see the flying fox.

• Snorkel at Rutong Beach.

• Explore the Riung Marine Park, swim, and relax on Rutong Island.

• Go back to Riung in the afternoon and have lunch.

• After breakfast, enjoy the beauty of underwater exploration on the small islands in the north of Flores.

• In the afternoon, return to Riung mainland and proceed to Bajawa for an overnight stay.

• Drive to Bena through the beautiful and picturesque areas of Bajawa. View the beauty of the semi-active volcano Gunung Lya and Inerie. Bena is located on the hill of Inerie, surrounded by a huge and gigantic bamboo plantation.

• Arrive in Bena to see traditional houses and megalithic tombs, and learn the meaning of Ngadhu and Bhaga, symbolizing the male and female ancestral spirits.

• Return to Bajawa for lunch at a local restaurant.

• Continue the trip, en route viewing the beauty of Mount Inerie and then Rana Mese Lake.

• See the process of making palm wine at Aimere.

Overnight stay at the hotel.

• Trek on a half-day trek to Mount Ranaka, a volcano located in Manggarai Regency. During active conditions, instead of trekking, the program can be replaced by visiting the local market, Ruteng Pu traditional village, and then Cancar and the Lembor irrigation area.

• Visit Labuan Bajo and go directly to the harbour to board a wooden boat leaving for Komodo Island, then arrive at Komodo port.

Overnight on board.

• Start exploring Komodo Island with a half-hour walk to Banunggulung to see the Komodo dragons, the largest monitor lizards in the world, in their natural habitat. The island is also home to the mound-building megapode bird, the sulphur-crested cockatoo, the noisy friarbird, and tropical flora.

• Return to the harbour and sail back toward Labuan Bajo, with lunch on board.

• Stop at Pink Beach to relax, swim, and snorkel.

• Move to Rinca Island while enjoying the stunning sunset over the ocean.

Dinner and overnight on board.

• Early in the morning, start from Rinca for Komodo Island.

• Trek on a short path through the typical dry forest to explore the island of the Komodo dragon. See many wild animals such as Timor deer, wild boars, and numerous birds including megapodes, yellow-crested cockatoos, imperial pigeons, white-breasted sea eagles, and maleos.

• Ride the boat to Red Beach for swimming and snorkelling in an unspoilt coral reef among colourful tropical fish.

Lunch on board, then go back to Labuan Bajo in the afternoon for an overnight stay.

• Visit Batu Cermin, also called Mirror Rock, which is actually a tunnel or cave in the dark stone hills of Labuan Bajo.

Transfer to the airport for departure to Bali or the next destination.
