4-Day Gheralta Church Trek from Mekele with Abuna Yemata Guh

• Drive from Mekelle for about 100 km towards the massive Gheralta Mountains and be dropped off at the beginning of the trekking site.
• After breakfast at the bottom of the mountain, start trekking at 1:30 to reach the old church in the sky called Youhans Mahali.
• After visiting this church, continue trekking for about 3-4 hours to reach the colourful, decorated church of Abune Abraham, which dates back to the 7th century AD, and then continue down to the base camp for about 2 hours.

Accommodation: camping in the village under the big tree.

• After breakfast, continue trekking with our professional cook, admiring the incredible views, wildlife, and traditional Tigray houses on the way to Maryam Papaseit.
• After visiting the church, trek to the base camp for about 4 hours.

Accommodation: camping in a village called Korkor.

• After an early breakfast, trek to the highest point of Gheralta, 2700 above sea level, to see views towards the four corners of the remarkable Gheralta Mountains.
• After lunch at the top of the mountain, continue trekking to visit Maryam Riam and Daniel Korkor Church.

Accommodation: "guh" Village.

• After breakfast, continue trekking to visit one of the famous and best churches in the Gheralta area, Abuna Yemata Guh.

Accommodation at your chosen hotel in Hawzan, or you can drive to Mekele or Axu.
