Embark on a 6-day cultural journey through southern Ethiopia from Addis Ababa, exploring some of the region's most distinctive communities and landscapes. Visit the Dorze village with its unique elephant-shaped houses, browse the local market in Chincha, and continue to Jinka to encounter the historic Konso and Arbore tribes. Travel through Mago National Park to meet the Mursi people, spend time in Turmi with the Hamer, and visit the Yangatom and decorated Karo tribes. The tour concludes with a boat trip on Lake Chamo to see crocodiles along the shore before flying back to Addis Ababa.

Day by day

The itinerary

Day 01

Arrival in Addis Ababa and Cultural Evening

Upon arrival, we will take you to your hotel for a short rest and then to the oldest coffee shop in Addis.
At about 7 pm, we will take you to a restaurant with live dancing. You will witness dance performances from different ethnic groups of the country while enjoying dinner. This is a perfect introduction to the whole tour.

Day 02

Fly to Arbaminch and Visit Dorze Village

Fly to Arbaminch and drive for about 45 minutes to Dorze village. The Dorze people are known for their elephant-shaped houses and weaving traditions.
This day is a market day in Chincha near Dorze, and you will visit this local market before heading back to town.

Overnight: Hotel in Arbaminch.

Day 03

Drive to Jinka via Konso and Arbore

Drive to Jinka, about 3 hours and 30 minutes away, and visit the Konso tribes, who are rich in history and culture. Their terracing is registered as UNESCO heritage terracing, and then continue to Jinka.
On the way, visit the Arbore tribes before driving on to Jinka.

Day 04

Mursi Village, Mago Park and Turmi

Drive from Jinka to the Mursi village through Mago Park and visit the Mursi tribes, known for their women inserting clay plates in their lips.
Then drive back to town and continue to Turmi, a small town of the Hamer people.
In the evening, visit a Hamer tribe village near the town.

Day 05

Yangatom, Karo and Konso Encounters

Drive to visit the Yangatom tribes. They are the tallest, and their lifestyle is like that of the Yangatom of South Sudan.
On the way back, drive to the other side of the Omo River to visit the most decorated tribes of the area, the Karo tribes, and then continue to Konso.

Day 06

Lake Chamo Boat Trip and Return to Addis

Drive from Konso to Arbaminch and take a boat trip on Lake Chamo to see the crocodiles on the shore of the lake.
Afterward, we will drop you off at the airport for your flight back to Addis.
