3-Day Danakil Depression Adventure with Dallol and Erta Ale

• You will fly from Addis Ababa to Semera and then drive for about 5-6 hours to reach Hamed Ela.
• During the journey, you will stop at Lake Afdera for lunch. If you wish, you may also swim in the lake.
• In the evening, you will visit Lake Asale, known for its salt flats near the next camping village. Here, you can enjoy a glass of wine or beer in this beautiful setting while swimming in the salt lake.

Overnight open-air camping at Hamed Ela.

• After breakfast, you will drive to the colourful attractions of Dallol, located at -125 meters below sea level. Here, you will visit the different landscapes formed by volcanic activity, including Dallol, Lake Assal, and camel caravans. You will also enjoy an excursion to Dallol, at 116 meters below sea level and one of the lowest places in the world, where you will see colourful salt mining.
• After exploring the other attractions, you will continue to Erta Ale, one of Ethiopia's most captivating and physically demanding natural wonders. This shield volcano has a base diameter of 30 km and a caldera at its summit measuring 1 km square. Erta Ale is home to the world's only permanent lava lake and sits at an altitude of 613 meters. The drive to Erta Ale takes approximately 4 hours and passes through a changing landscape of solidified lava rock and sand. Along the way, you will pass several hamlets scattered across the deserted land before arriving at the Erta Ale camping site.
• After a short break and an early dinner, just before sunset, you will trek for about an hour to Erta Ale. Once there, you will spend a few hours watching the dramatic action of the boiling lava.
• You will then trek back to the basic camp to spend the night and sleep under the stars.

• After breakfast, you will revisit the boiling lava in the early morning.
• You will then proceed to Afdera and Semera for your flight back to Addis.
