The itinerary

1
Day 01

Arrival in Entebbe and Transfer to Your Hotel

  • Our representative and your tour guide for the 7-day safari will welcome you, greet you, and transfer you to the booked hotel around Kampala city centre or within Entebbe, depending on your arrival time.
  • You will have some time to rest at the hotel after your flight. You may also choose to transfer straight to Queen Elizabeth National Park.
2
Day 02

Journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park

  • Wake up early and enjoy breakfast at the hotel, after which your guide will pick you up at 7:30 am, brief you, and begin the 6-hour journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Along the way, you will have a few stopovers at the Equator for photographs and in Mbarara City for lunch.
  • Afterwards, proceed to the park as you drive through the spectacular landscape of open grasslands, Ankole long-horned cattle country, tea plantations, the Rift Valley Escarpment, and various woodlands.
  • Reach the park in the late afternoon and enjoy a game drive as you head to your lodge. Have dinner and rest there overnight.
3
Day 03

Morning Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise

  • Explore Queen Elizabeth National Park in the cool morning on an early game drive that introduces you to its diverse wildlife. Look out for elephants, buffalos, big cats such as lions and, more often in the evening, leopards, as well as warthogs and hunchback carnivores like hyenas along the circuits. The park is also rich in birdlife, especially in the wetland areas, and you may reach the flamingoes at the salt lakes.
  • After lunch, head for a classic highlight of the safari: the 3 pm, 2-hour boat cruise on the famous Kazinga Channel, a 36 km channel linking Lake George to Lake Edward. From the boat, you can spot land- and water-adapted hippopotamuses yawning, Nile crocodiles gaping along the banks, warthogs, and many different bird species.

Day 04

Chimpanzee Tracking, Ishasha Tree-Climbing Lions and Transfer to Bwindi

  • Leave the lodge early for chimpanzee tracking in Kalinzu Forest. After the trek, continue to the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park.
  • Drive through this adventurous and vast savanna area, home to topis and the southern population of elephants, and hopefully spot the lions high in the fig tree branches. After the game drive, transfer to Bwindi through the neck of the impenetrable forest.
  • The journey takes you through a changing landscape from savanna to cultivated hills and then to forest-covered mountains. If you arrive early, you can walk and mix with the locals or relax with the Orphans' group performers.
5
Day 05

Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi and Relaxation at Lake Bunyonyi

  • Have an early breakfast surrounded by Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, home to the forest giants that are cousins to human beings - the gorillas. This is one of the highlights of the safari, as you will go gorilla trekking in a group with a specialised guide, walk through the fascinating jungle, and spend one hour with the Mountain Gorillas. This impenetrable forest also contains birds, butterflies, plant species, forest hogs, elephants, statungas, and dikers.
  • After the gorilla trek, transfer through cultivated hills to beautiful Lake Bunyonyi. Check in by the lake, 1840 m above sea level, in the afternoon. Here, you can relax after the trek and even swim if it is not too cold for you, as the lake is accessible by bilharzia, hippos, and crocodiles.
6
Day 06

Transfer to Lake Mburo and Afternoon Game Drive

  • Leave Lake Bunyonyi after breakfast and drive towards Lake Mburo National Park. Reach the park in time for lunch at the lodge.
  • In the afternoon, enjoy a game drive to view zebras, topis, warthogs, Cape buffaloes, impalas, waterbucks, birds, and buffaloes in their day-break jungle life.
7
Day 07

Morning Safari Walk in Lake Mburo and Return to Entebbe

  • Start the day with a safari walk, getting you close to nature. Visit the hyena's den and look out for leopards, zebras, waterbucks, birds, and buffaloes in their day-break jungle life.
  • After the safari walk, have breakfast at the lodge before setting off for Entebbe as your 7-day Uganda safari comes to an end.
  • Reach Entebbe in the afternoon, where you can arrange an evening flight or add a night in Entebbe and fly the next day.
