10-Day Senegambia Tour with River Cruises and Beach Stays

• Start the tour with an orientation drive through the city of Serrekunda, home to the biggest market in The Gambia and the country's most densely populated urban area.
• Spend time visiting the market to experience local traders and craftsmen, then drive to Bakau to meet the friendly crocodiles at the Kachikally Crocodile Pool and Museum, where you can spend time by the pool and have the chance to touch a crocodile. Lunch will be served on Paradise Beach in The Gambia.

Overnight at Rainbow Beach Bar and Resort, a 3-star resort on the sandy beaches of southern Gambia.

• Cross the ferry in the morning at Banjul to the north bank of the Gambia River and continue toward Georgetown, now locally called Janjanbureh, for lunch and overnight.
• Visit the Wassu Stone Circles and museum to see facts and artifacts from the old Stone Age.
• Then continue the drive and cross the ferry into Georgetown, or Janjanbureh Island, for lunch.

Baobolong Camp will prepare a great lunch and arrange accommodation based on the river experience.

• Enjoy a special cruise on the sweet, or freshwater, zone of the Gambia River in search of hippopotami, chimpanzees, crocodiles, monkeys, and many species of birds found along the riverbanks. Lunch will be served on board. The evening will be at leisure as you relax and reflect on your cruise on the River Gambia before your overnight stay.

• Drive farther up the river to Bansang, an administrative town near surrounding communities, where you will visit families and see their culture and traditions.
• Drive back to Baobolong Camp for lunch, and in the evening take a tour of the island, visiting the colonial remains and learning about slavery.

• After breakfast, leave the island and drive downriver along the south bank. Stop at Tendaba Camp, where you will stay for two nights, have lunch, and enjoy the camp environment and pool.

• After breakfast, join a cruise through the wetlands of Kaing West, where nature remains untouched because the wetlands prevent farming and other activities in the area. The animals and birds find these wetlands a paradise and may surprise you - and your camera - as they pose for photos. Cruise back for lunch and time to relax. Tendaba is a four-star resort and the only resort with access to Kaing West.

Dinner and overnight.

• After breakfast, drive through Brikama and enter Senegal through Gboroo and Silit immigration, where your passports will be stamped, then continue to Kafuntine.

Overnight and dinner at Tanjo Camper.

• Tour the nearby community of Abena to visit Bantang Woroo, claimed to be one of the largest trees in the subregion, and have lunch on the beach in Abena.
• After lunch, spend some time on the beach before driving back to Kafuntine for dinner and overnight.

• After breakfast, drive back toward the border to re-enter The Gambia and continue to Sanyang Paradise Beach Resort. Lunch will be at Tranquil Oasis in Sanyang, a community-orientated retreat for nature lovers. In the evening, enjoy a campfire on Paradise Beach, followed by dinner and overnight.

• Wake up for a final breakfast and a walk on the beach. At midday, check out at the end of your Best of Senegambia tour.
