Day 01
Bogor Botanical Garden, Rice Terraces and Waterfall
- After pick-up from your hotel or apartment, drive to Bogor City to explore the Botanical Garden, situated in the heart of the city. Covering around 84 hectares, the garden offers an easy stroll through lush grounds where you will also see the Presidential Palace, guarded by heavy army staff - but you will still be able to get a picture. Experience the tranquility of Lake Danau and admire a colonial building within the park that is still used as the Presidential residence. You can either walk or rent an electric bike in the park. After spending time here, continue to the waterfall.
- About 45 minutes from the waterfall in Bogor, there is another lesser-known place that offers amazing views: the Mulyaharja rice fields in Bogor Regency. These rice terraces are located quite close to the fantastic Salak Mountain. While the rice terraces of Cibeureum village are not quite as levelled as the rice terraces of Java, the scenery around the area is similarly astonishing. It is recommended to visit either in the morning or evening to enjoy the best views of the rice terrace landscapes.
- Have lunch at a local restaurant named Gumati Resto with an exhilarating view of Salak Mountain. There is also another option to have lunch at the rice terraces, so you can feel like a local in Bali.
After lunch, visit a Wayang Golek, or wooden puppet maker, a heritage of Sundanese culture. Then drive uphill for 15 minutes. After arriving, walk among the pine trees to see monkey families, then continue through a stony alley that looks like a canyon. The waterfall here has three sides that you can choose from for swimming or simply for rejuvenating your soul and mind.
On the drive back to the city, follow Ciomas Road so you can enjoy a local visual cultural treat such as a Hindu temple. About an hour later, make a U-turn and drop off at your hotel or apartment. After that, return to your place, whether hotel, house, or apartment.
