Experience two of Far North Queensland’s most iconic journeys in one day on this small-group tour from Cairns to Kuranda. Travel through the World Heritage Wet Tropics with a local guide, combining the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway with the historic Kuranda Scenic Railway for a memorable look at rainforest, waterfalls, and mountain scenery.

Glide above ancient rainforest to Red Peak and Barron Falls, enjoy free time in Kuranda Village to browse markets, galleries, and optional wildlife attractions, then return on the heritage railway through Barron Gorge National Park. Along the way, hear insights into Djabugay Aboriginal heritage, tropical ecology, and the remarkable history behind this classic rail route.

Please note that from 20 July, Skyrail will undergo renovations; from 21 July onwards, guests will be driven to Kuranda and return by train.

Cairns and Northern Beaches Hotel Pickup

Your guide collects you from your Cairns accommodation and shares insights about Djabugay Aboriginal heritage and World Heritage Wet Tropics during the scenic drive to either Skyrail Smithfield Terminal or Freshwater Station, depending on optimal daily routing to avoid crowds.

Skyrail Rainforest Cableway

Glide 7.5 kilometers above pristine rainforest with Coral Sea views. Disembark at Red Peak Station for guided boardwalk experience through ancient forest. Continue to Barron Falls Station for multiple lookout platform views of waterfalls cascading into Barron Gorge National Park

Kuranda Village

Free time to explore Heritage Markets (established 1915) featuring Indigenous art, Australian crafts, and local souvenirs. Optional wildlife experiences at Australian Butterfly Sanctuary, Birdworld Kuranda, or Koala Gardens (separate entry fees). Lunch at local cafes and restaurants, plus rainforest walks and village galleries.You are putting the whole rainforest under your fleet with the longest and the only cable car built in the rainforest.

Kuranda Scenic Railway

Board the historic 1891 Queensland Rail heritage train at Kuranda Station. Journey through Barron Gorge National Park via 15 hand-carved tunnels and 37 heritage bridges, passing Stoney Creek Falls with onboard commentary about railway construction history.

Barron Falls & Barron Gorge National Park

View from both Skyrail station lookouts and during Scenic Railway journey. Most dramatic during wet season (December-April).
