The itinerary

Day 01

Laguna 69 Trek through Huascarán National Park

Departure: 05:00 am. Depart from Huaraz by private or shared transport heading north through the Callejón de Huaylas to Yungay, where you will enter Huascarán National Park.

Note: Each client must bring their own snack, as there is no lunch stop. You may bring fruit, sandwiches, water, chocolate, snacks, and similar items.

Breakfast: Breakfast at a tourist restaurant in Huashao near the national park. After entering Huascarán National Park, continue into the Llanganuco ravine and pass the Chinancocha and Orconcocha lagoons. There will be a brief 10-minute stop at Chinancocha Lagoon for photos before continuing to Cebollapampa, where the trek begins. The hike includes approximately 3 hours of ascent and 2 hours of descent, allowing you to enjoy the beauty of the landscape beneath the mountains.
Arrival at Laguna 69: At Laguna 69, you will be able to appreciate the majesty of the snow-capped Chacraraju, rising to 6,108 metres above sea level.
Return: Return to Cebollapampa, where the vehicle will be waiting, and travel back to Huaraz along the same route, arriving at approximately 07:00 pm.

Personal equipment, such as clothing for travel in the vehicle and hiking. For the sheltered lagoon area, hats with earflaps are required, as well as hiking shoes and, sometimes, waterproof/Gore-Tex clothing if it is the rainy season, sunscreen, sunglasses, camera, hat or sun hat, sports drinks or water (approximately 2 litres), etc.

Know before you go

This equipment list is compiled to provide you with adequate help when choosing your equipment for a climb. Most items are required. Please consider each of them and make sure you understand their function and exclusive use for mountaineering before substituting or removing anything from this list. Please note that this list has been carefully annotated by the organizer. Remember that mountaineering, climbing, and mountain expedition tours are extreme and risky sports, so everything related to them requires great attention.
Dressing appropriately for the mountains can make the difference between a pleasant trip and a really uncomfortable one. Clothing must provide the right degree of warmth, allow perspiration, and be well ventilated. Preferably, cotton clothing should be avoided, as in humid conditions it absorbs body heat.
In general, weather conditions in the Andes of South America can vary from day to day and even throughout the day. Therefore, clothing must be versatile.
