Climb Mount Vallunaraju in the Cordillera Blanca of the Peruvian Andes on a 2-day trekking and climbing adventure from Huaraz. Reach the summit at 5,686 m for breathtaking views and a spectacular sunrise, with majestic peaks such as Huascarán, Chopicalqui, and Tocllaraju rising around you. This climb is one of the nearest high summits to Huaraz and is widely preferred for acclimatization and mountaineering practice.

Day by day
Depart from Huaraz at 9:00 am and travel east of Huaraz to Llaca Base Camp at 4,400 m. [Walk time: 3 hours (climb up) / driving time: 2 hours]
Start climbing up. After 3 hours, reach the campsite at 4,900 m and enjoy taking scenic photos of the beautiful sunset.
Overnight camp at Moraine.
Have breakfast early at 2:00 am.
Start walking up over rock slabs for around 15 minutes until the glacier edge, then put on the climbing gear and tools to begin ascending the ice terrace and reach the summit at 5,686 m. [Climbing time: 10 hours (ascent & descent) / driving time: 2 hours]
At the summit, enjoy gorgeous views and a spectacular sunrise, with mountain views over the Cordillera Negra. See several impressive summits of over 6,000 meters around you, including Tocllaraju Mountain, Chopicalqui Mountain, Mount Huascaran, Mount Copa, Ocshapalca Mountain, Ranrapalca Mountain, and Huantzan Mountain.
After spending enough time taking scenic pictures, descend on the same path back to Moraine Camp and take a short break.
Continue down to Llaca Base Camp, where private transport awaits to drive you back to Huaraz.

It's one of the most preferred summits for acclimatization. Besides, it's ideal for developing mountaineering courses, as well as for visitors who have a short time to visit our region. Vallunaraju Mountain is one of the nearest to Huaraz, part of Chinchey's group in the Cordillera Blanca, and offers breathtaking views from the summit, including majestic Mount Huascaran.
