The itinerary

1
Day 01

Huaraz to Pashpa Village and Ishinca Base Camp

  • Departure from Huaraz at 8:00 am toward the northern side of Callejon de Huaylas until Paltay town. From there, continue east on a dirt road to Pashpa village at 3,600 m. Driving time is approximately 2 hours, followed by a 4-hour walk.

  • Meet the donkey driver, who will load the climbing gear and transport it to the base camp at 4,350 m, where the campsite is located.

Overnight camp at Ishinca Base Camp.

Day 02

Summit Day on Ishinca Peak

Today is summit day. Climbing time is approximately 10 hours for the ascent and descent.

  • Prepare the climbing gear and tools early at 2:00 am.

  • Hike toward Ishinca Mountain at 5,530 m. Walk along switchbacks to the moraine for about 3 hours, then climb for around 2 hours from the glacier edge to the summit.

  • From the summit, enjoy a spectacular sunrise and splendid mountain views, with more than 10 other summits visible, including Ranrapalca Mountain.

  • Descend by the same route back to base camp and enjoy the last night camping at Ishinca Base Camp.

Day 03

Ishinca Base Camp to Pashpa Village and Huaraz

  • Pick up the climbing gear and walk down along the Ishinca Valley until Cochapampa, where private transport will be waiting to return to Huaraz. Driving time is approximately 2 hours, and walking time is about 4 hours.

Know before you go

  • This summit is perfect for acclimatization, with an easy climbing difficulty. The normal route follows the west ridge, between the col of Ranrapalca and Ishinca Mountain. You will be surrounded by over 6,000 m snow-capped peaks of Chinchey, Palcaraju, Tocllaraju, and Ranrapalca, including the impressive Huantzan Mountain.

  • Maximum altitude: 5,530 m (Ishinca summit).

  • Difficulty: Moderate.

  • Duration: 3 days / 2 nights.

  • Preferred time: May - September.

  • Average temperature: Between 13° C and 23° C during the day; at night, from -05° C to -02° C.

Important Advice:

  • Book early to get special discounts.

  • For booking validation, deposit 40% of the total price and pay the remaining 60% upon arrival in Peru or Huaraz.
