The itinerary

1
Day 01

Huaraz to Pisco Base Camp via Yungay and Llanganuco Valley

  • Depart from Huaraz at 6:00 am and head north along the Callejon de Huaylas valley.

  • Turn east from Yungay town and continue driving up toward the Llanganuco valley, passing beautiful glacier lakes along the way.

  • At Cebolla Pampa, take donkey and donkey driver services to carry the climbing gear up to the base camp at 4665 m.

Overnight camp at base camp.

Day 02

Pisco Base Camp to Pisco Summit and Return

  • After breakfast, start walking up toward Pisco summit at 5752 m. Three hours later, pass the rocky moraine and reach the edge of the glacier.

  • Continue climbing for four hours to reach the top. At the summit, see more than 10 peaks over 6000 meters high, including the giant Mount Huascarán. Total climbing time is 11 hours for the ascent and descent.

  • Return to the camping spot.

Spend the last night at the base camp.

Day 03

Pisco Base Camp to Cebollapampa and Return to Huaraz

  • After a hearty breakfast, collect the climbing gear and walk down to Cebollapampa.

Private transport will be waiting to drive you back to Huaraz.

Know before you go

  • This summit is ideal for acclimatization, with an easy climbing difficulty on the normal route along the west ridge. Enjoy breathtaking mountain views from the summit, surrounded by huge snow-capped peaks such as Huandoy, Huascarán, Chopicalqui, Yanapaccha, Chacraraju, Piramide Garcilaso, Caraz, and the impressive Mount Alpamayo.

  • Maximum altitude: 5752 m (Pisco summit).

  • Difficulty: Moderate.

  • Duration: 3 days and 2 nights.

  • Preferred time: May - September.

  • Average temperature: Between 13° C and 23° C during the day; at night, -05° C to -02° C.

  • Book early to get special discounts.

  • For booking validation, deposit 50% of the total price and pay the remaining 50% after arrival in Peru or Huaraz.
