Itinerary

1. Day 1: Arusha Town to Serengeti National Park

   • After breakfast, depart for Serengeti National Park via the beautiful high lying farmland of Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Leaving the highlands behind, we descend into the heart of wild Africa – the Serengeti National Park – with its endless plains, rolling into the distance as far as the eye can see.
   • Enter into the heart of the central park area, known as the Seronera area. This is one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park and features the Seronera River, which provides a valuable water source to this area and, therefore, attracts wildlife well representative of most of the Serengeti’s species.
   • Arrive in time for lunch and enjoy an afternoon game drive in the Serengeti National Park, where you might see elephants, lions, hippos, giraffes, and buffaloes, to mention a few. Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Heritage Tented Camp.

2. Day 2: Exploring the Serengeti National Park

   • We have the whole day to explore the Serengeti, with a packed lunch with us to make the most of our game viewing. The area is a spectacular location for wildlife viewing, particularly the big cats with multiple lions’ pride in the area. Cheetahs, leopards, and a variety of more common Savannah games are regularly spotted in the area.
   • Even when the great wildebeest migration is not around the central part, game viewing is great throughout the year. Apart from the big cats, the area is also home to giraffes, hippos, elephants, impala, buffalos, and a good number of bird species, which can make your day busy as you try to look for that elusive leopard.
   • In the early evening, we return to camp to enjoy the sunset.

3. Day 3: Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

   • After breakfast, a game drive in Serengeti National Park with a picnic lunch until noon to see the beauty of this great park. The afternoon after lunch game en-route to Ngorongoro Conservation Area for dinner and overnight stay at Ngorongoro Rhino Lodge.

   Main Destination: Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

4. Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater Tour

   • Explore the crater floor.
   • Leave the Rhino lodge very early in the morning and go through the Ngorongoro Conservation before descending 610 meters down to the grasslands of the crater floor, an area of about 265 square kilometres. Despite its small size, the Crater is a Big 5 country, and the openness of the terrain means easy and rewarding game viewing. You will spend the day exploring the crater floor, stopping to picnic on the grasslands amidst the grazing herds. Formed by a massive volcanic eruption, the world’s largest intact and un-flooded caldera provides a year-round home to an astonishing 25,000 large mammals, including black rhino, wildebeest, and zebra, along with Africa’s densest concentrations of hyena. The Crater’s forests shelter elephants and buffalo. Its wetlands are home to hippos and flamingos while lions, jackals, leopards, and caracals make up the full range of predators. Late afternoon, leave the Crater behind and drive back to Arusha, and you will be dropped at Kilimanjaro International Airport.
