The itinerary

Day 01

Arusha to Central Serengeti National Park

  • After breakfast, you will be picked up.
  • Option 1 - Drive to Arusha Airport or fly from Zanzibar or Dar es Salaam Airport to Central Serengeti. After arrival, proceed with a game drive in the Serengeti wilderness area.
  • Option 2 - We will travel to Serengeti by road near the rim of Ngorongoro Crater, allowing for animal sightings along the way. The golden savannah and endless plains, teeming with zebras, wildebeest, and giraffes, make it easy to understand why the Serengeti is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa.
  • Serengeti National Park is Tanzania's oldest and most popular national park. A UNESCO World Heritage Site and recently proclaimed the 7th wonder of the world, Serengeti is famed for its annual migration, where some six million hooves pound the open plains. Serengeti offers an exotic game-viewing experience in the whole of Africa, giving you an up-close look at the animals you've only seen in National Geographic: great herds of buffalo, smaller groups of elephant and giraffe, and thousands of elands, topi, kongoni, impala, and Grant's gazelle.
  • After the game drive, we will be transferred to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay at Serengeti Serena Lodge.

Day 02

Full-Day Wildlife Viewing in Central Serengeti

  • Spend a full day in Serengeti National Park, mostly exploring the wildlife. Serengeti National Park's resident wildlife numbers are exceptionally high in the Wagakuria area, with a pride of lions up to 30 strong. However, from July to October, the area turns into a wildlife paradise. The key feature is the Mara River, and it is not uncommon to see the herds cross the Mara River north on one day and then back south a few days later. Please note that finding a crossing is very difficult and sometimes a matter of luck.
  • We will later continue to Serengeti Serena Lodge and campsite for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 03

Final Game Viewing and Return to Arusha

  • After an early breakfast, check out of the lodge with a packed picnic lunch and depart for a last game viewing on your way out of Serengeti. In the late afternoon, drive to Arusha for your onward flight.
  • Alternatively, continue to your booked hotel for an overnight stay in Arusha.
