Day 01

Akwaaba Welcome in Accra

• Upon arrival at the airport, our representatives will warmly welcome you and transfer you to your hotel. Enjoy a refreshing welcome drink at the hotel while receiving a brief orientation.

Day 02

Accra to Kumasi via Besease Shrine

• After breakfast, check out of your hotel and set off for Kumasi, the historic capital of the Ashanti Empire.
• Explore the enduring legacy of the Ashantis, still present in modern times. En route from Accra, make a fascinating stop at the Besease Shrine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Located near Ejisu, this traditional fetish shrine houses specific spirits known as "obosom," who serve as intermediaries between mortals and the supreme god Nyame.
• Witness the distinctive architecture and take part in the ancestral worship rituals of ancient gods.
• Finally, continue your journey to Kumasi and check in at your hotel.

Day 03

Traditional Naming Ceremony

• Join us as we reclaim your true name during a grand procession to the Paramount Chief's Palace. The entire village will gather, and the Paramount Chief will lead a special naming ceremony surrounded by hundreds of locals.
• Experience this spiritual and unforgettable ceremony to the rhythm of the "front from" drums, accompanied by captivating dances by local villagers. You will even have the opportunity to join in the unique cultural dance.
• Following the celebration, your family's elders will choose a name for you, honouring a great personality from your family or community.

Day 04

Kumasi City Tour and Ashanti Craft Villages

• After breakfast, explore the Manhyia Palace Museum to gain firsthand insight into the legacies of the Ashanti Kingdom. A regal history dating back to 1700 is told through relics and artifacts. Enjoy a drive through the city, passing monuments dedicated to the memory of the great Ashanti people.
• Afterwards, visit the National Cultural Centre, which features the Prempeh II Jubilee Museum and various studios of brass makers, potters, and batik makers. After lunch on your own, explore the famous Ashanti craft villages. Depart for Ntonso, the home of Adinkra cloth, and Bonwire, the Kente weaving village. You will have an opportunity to see how African crafts are made and to buy directly from the artisans who create them.

Day 05

Assin Manso and Elmina Castle

• After breakfast, check out of your hotel and embark on a scenic drive through the forest zones to Elmina. En route, make a meaningful stop at Assin Manso, the last transit point for enslaved Africans before their journey to the New World. Explore the slave dungeons and pay your respects at the final resting place of two ancestors whose remains were repatriated from the USA and Jamaica and now rest in Ghana.
• Upon reaching Elmina, immerse yourself in history as you visit the iconic Elmina Castle, constructed by the Portuguese in 1482 and known as St. George's Castle. It stands as Sub-Saharan Africa's first European structure. Take in the picturesque harbour below Elmina Castle, teeming with colorful pirogues ready to set sail, and capture one of West Africa's finest photo opportunities.

Day 06

Kakum Rainforest and Cape Coast Castle

• Embark on a journey to explore the historic Denkyira Kingdom, beginning with a visit to Kakum National Park, one of West Africa's last tropical rainforests. The park features the renowned Canopy Walkway, offering stunning views of the diverse vegetation and wildlife. Choose between traversing the canopy or taking a nature walk to discover exotic flora and their medicinal properties.
• Afterward, explore the iconic Cape Coast Castle, constructed by the Swedes in 1653 and later acquired by the British. The castle houses the West African Historical Museum, a collaboration between the Smithsonian Institute and the Ghanaian government. Spend the night at your hotel and participate in a KASA (TALK TIME) session led by an expert guide in the evening, providing an opportunity for meaningful cultural connections and insights.

Day 07

Elmina to Historic Jamestown

• Start your day with breakfast, then head to Accra.
• Visit Jamestown, the historic heart of British Accra. Discover the vibrant colors, authentic flavors, and rich history of this charming district. Explore its architecture, which showcases a unique fusion of European and Ghanaian influences, a testament to its role as the former seat of British colonial rule before Ghana gained independence.
• Do not forget to capture a photo by Jamestown's iconic red and white lighthouse, which offers stunning views of the Gulf of Guinea.

Aburi Botanical Gardens Excursion

• Embark on a scenic drive to Aburi Botanical Gardens after breakfast. Established in 1890, this eco-paradise boasts a diverse array of tropical and sub-tropical flora, including a majestic tree over 155 years old that witnessed the British colonial era.
• Consider enjoying lunch (non-inclusive) amidst this picturesque garden, a favorite picnic spot for tourists.

Accra Landmarks and Teshie Coffin Makers

• Explore the vibrant city of Accra, Ghana's capital and largest city, on this comprehensive orientation tour. Discover the administrative and economic districts, and visit cultural landmarks such as the Artists Alliance Gallery, W.E.B. Du Bois Center, and Independence/Black Star Square. Learn about Ghana's history, including its journey to independence, at the National Museum of Ghana. Experience the lively Arts Center for shopping in an open-air market.
• Extend your exploration to Jamestown, the historic center of British Accra, known for its colourful ambience, authentic flavors, and rich history. The tour concludes with a visit to the Coffin Makers Shop in Teshie, where you will witness the fascinating art of hand-carving unique wooden coffins that reflect the lives of the departed. After a captivating day, return to your hotel for a restful night.

Departure from Accra

• Your adventure with us ends here. Spend your day at leisure, perhaps indulging in some last-minute shopping. Afterwards, check out of your hotel and head to the airport for check-in before your departure.
