Elmina Castle was built by the Portuguese in 1482 in present-day Elmina, Ghana, formerly the Gold Coast. It was the first trading post built on the Gulf of Guinea. Cape Coast Castle's Haunting Legacy

Finally, delve into the haunting history of Cape Coast Castle, the world's largest slave dungeon, and gain a profound understanding of the past's impact on humanity. This castle offers experiential knowledge of what enslaved ancestors experienced while locked up in those inhuman cells as they waited for the slave ships. Built by the British in 1665, it became the most feared of the slave dungeons under English supervision. Its dungeons housed huge numbers of African slaves destined for transportation to North America.
