About Luxor:

Luxor is divided into two banks. The East Bank of Luxor has the complex temples of Karnak and Luxor.

As the ancient Egyptians believed in the god Amoun Raa, the complex temple of Karnak was their main place of worship. The god Amoun Raa is the god of the sun. The sun rises in the east, and so they have chosen the east side for living and worshipping their deity.

The two temples are connected to each other through Ram-headed and Sphinx Avenue, where they celebrate the Opet festival by raising the sign of the god carried through the sacred boat.
