The itinerary

Day 01

Hanoi to Ha Long Bay and Cát Bà Island

Depart for Ha Long Bay at 8:00 am.
Arrive at 11:30 am and have lunch on the boat. Then take a 4-hour boat trip to visit Ha Long Bay. The calm emerald water and towering karst islands create a mystical maze as you cruise past Thiên Cung Cave, Đầu Gỗ Grotto, Gà Chọi, Đỉnh Hương, Cô Đơn, and Chó Đá. There will be plenty of time for swimming and taking pictures.
Transfer by bus to the hotel on Cát Bà Island.
Stop by the local market to buy beers (8,000 VND per can) for a campfire on a deserted beach, with swimming, dancing, drinking, BBQ, and dinner. Bring a guitar if you can play.
Spend the first night in warm tents or at a hotel, depending on weather conditions.

Day 02

Trekking and Island Exploration on Cát Bà

Full-day activities from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Go trekking in the National Park.
Visit Monkey Island and Việt Hải village.
Enjoy 3 hours of trekking through the mountain rain forest and valleys.
Climb to the top of the mountain, where you will have great views over the mountains and the bay.
Spend the second night at the 3-star Holiday View Hotel, relaxing and discovering the town by yourself at night.

Day 03

Lan Ha Bay Cruise and Return to Hanoi

Have breakfast and check out at 7:00 am.
Take a boat trip through Lan Ha Bay to reach Ha Long Harbour, where you will catch the bus at 12:00 pm.
Have lunch.
Arrive back in Hanoi at 4:30 pm. Trip ends.

Cát Bà is the largest island in Lan Ha Bay in North Vietnam. Almost half of its area is covered by a National Park, which is home to the highly endangered Cát Bà Langur. The island has a wide variety of natural ecosystems, both marine and terrestrial, leading to incredibly high biodiversity. Natural habitats found on the Cát Bà Archipelago include limestone karsts, tropical limestone forests, coral reefs, mangrove and seagrass beds, lagoons, beaches, caves, and willow swamp forests.
