The itinerary

1
Day 01

Nairobi to Samburu via Nanyuki and the Equator

Pick up at 06:30 am after an early breakfast, and begin your safari in Nairobi from your residence or hotel. Depart by road, driving past coffee farms, pineapple and tea plantations towards Mount Kenya, Africa's second-highest point, with a break at the base town of Nanyuki, where you will also have an opportunity to cross the Equator shortly before lunch.

After lunch, proceed to Isiolo town. The journey takes about 6 hours to arrive in Samburu via Isiolo town and Archer's Post before reaching Samburu Game Reserve.

Upon arrival, check in at the lodge and proceed for a game drive, which will bring you to the Elephant Bedroom area. Continue your game drive in search of lion, leopard up in the tree, gerenuk - the long-necked antelope that likes to stand high on its hind legs - Grevy's zebras, crocodiles, and hippos in the Uaso Nyiro River.

Return to the lodge before sunset for dinner and an overnight stay.

2
Day 02

Full-Day Wildlife Viewing in Samburu

The whole day will be spent exploring this amazing game reserve. It will refresh your mind, as the park is not crowded and not many people visit here. It is home to the Big Five - elephant, lion, rhino, leopard, and buffalo - as well as gerenuk, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, Grevy's zebra, Beisa oryx, endangered wild dog, and the endangered pancake tortoise.

There are over 450 species of birds identified here, along with aquatic species in the Waso Nyiro River, including vultures, kingfishers, marabous, bateleurs, guinea fowl, Somali ostriches, and others. The whole day will be spent exploring the park on game drives.

Dinner and overnight in Samburu Lodge, Samburu Sarova Lodge, or Mara Sopa Lodge.

3
Day 03

Samburu to Aberdare Tree Hotel Experience

Breakfast at the lodge, then depart and drive to Nyeri Outspan for lunch. After lunch, proceed to Treetops Hotel or The Ark, where you will have a lifetime experience in these tree hotels, which were once used by the British as their holiday getaway.

In the evening, you will see huge elephant herds coming to the waterhole near the lodge for water.

Dinner and overnight at Treetops Hotel or The Ark.

4
Day 04

Aberdare to Lake Nakuru via Thompson Falls

Depart after breakfast and check out of the lodge. On your way, enjoy a morning game drive as you travel to Thompson Falls in Nyahururu. Stop here for a few minutes and then continue to Lake Nakuru, arriving in time for lunch at Sarova Woodlands Hotel.

After lunch, proceed for the afternoon game drive in search of rhinos as well as other animals. Explore the park until 18:30 hrs, then return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay at Woodlands Hotel.

5
Day 05

Lake Nakuru to Masai Mara

After breakfast, check out of the hotel, drive past the Mau forests, and head to Masai Mara. This will be a 4-5 hour drive, and upon arrival, you will check in at the lodge for lunch and thereafter proceed for a game drive.

This afternoon game drive will offer one of the magnificent African safari experiences, bringing you close to the Big Five, best known from National Geographic documentaries. The game drive ushers you into the African sunset with the beauty of the weather-bearing panorama set.

Dinner and overnight at the lodge or luxury camp - Mara Sopa Lodge or Base Camp.

6
Day 06

Masai Mara Full Day and Mara River Migration Experience

The wildebeest annual migration takes place from July to late September and is a natural phenomenon. Today, you wake up at 06:00 hrs and have a full breakfast, then carry lunch boxes, as the day will be spent exploring this amazing game reserve, which has become the world's 7th wonder because of wildebeest and zebras.

Visit the Mara River, where the great migration normally takes place. You will witness millions of wildebeest crossing the crocodile-infested river. There will also be an opportunity to take a photo at the border between Masai Mara and Serengeti, since both reserves share a common border.

Spend the whole day in search of the Big Five. After exploring the reserve, start driving back to the camp for dinner and an overnight stay at a lodge or luxury camp - Mara Sopa Lodge or Base Camp.
