3-Day Cairo, Giza and Alexandria Tour with Saqqara and Memphis

The guide will meet you at your hotel to begin the tour.

• Saqqara

  Saqqara is home to the oldest stone structure ever built, the Step Pyramid of King Zoser. You will explore the funerary complex of King Zoser, followed by a visit to one of the most important pyramids, the Pyramid of King Unas. Here, you can venture inside to admire the hieroglyphics adorning its walls. Afterwards, you will explore one of the high officials' tombs, where colourful scenes of ancient Egyptian daily life are vividly carved on the walls.

• Memphis

  This was the oldest capital of Egypt, although no traces of the old city remain today. However, you will visit an open-air museum housing several statues, most of which belong to Ramses II.

• Giza Pyramids

  Here, you will witness one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the Great Pyramid of King Khufu, as well as the pyramids of his son and grandson, Chephren and Menkaure. Finally, you will visit the Sphinx, where you will hear fascinating stories and secrets. You will also discuss various theories surrounding the construction and purpose of the Great Pyramid.

• The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities

  The Egyptian Museum in Cairo ranks among the largest and most significant museums in the world, housing over 120,000 artifacts spanning all periods of Ancient Egyptian history. It was designed by the French architect Marcel Dourgnon and constructed by an Italian company in 1902 during the reign of Khedive Abbas Helmi II.

• Coptic Cairo

  You will explore the remains of an ancient Roman fortress known as Babylon. Then, you will visit the Hanging Church, dating back to the 4th century and featuring 110 icons, with the oldest dating to the 8th century. Next, you will visit Abu Serga Church, built upon the cavern believed to have sheltered Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary.

• Islamic Cairo

  This part of the tour offers a glimpse into old Cairo and its historic walls. You will visit one of its ancient gates and explore numerous mosques along Muezz Al-Din Allah Street, including an opportunity to enter one of the minarets. Lastly, you will visit one of the most renowned mosques in the Islamic world, Al-Azhar Mosque. The tour concludes with a visit to the historic Khan el-Khalili market.

• After breakfast, you will embark on a 3-hour overland journey to Alexandria. The tour there will begin with visits to Pompey's Pillar and the Catacombs of Kom El-Shoqafa. Lunch will be enjoyed at a scenic restaurant overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.

• Afterwards, you will view the exterior of the Library of Alexandria, the world's largest library, housing 8 million books. You will also visit the site of the ancient Lighthouse, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. On this site, you will explore Qaitbey Castle. Finally, you will return to Cairo.
