Jeddah Flagpole, Al-Balad and King Fahd's Fountain
Pass by the Jeddah Flagpole, located in King Abdullah Square in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Standing at a height of 171 meters (561 ft), it held the record as the world's tallest flagpole from September 23, 2014, until 2021.
Visit Al-Balad, founded in the 7th century and historically the center of Jeddah. It is divided into several different districts. In 2009, Al-Balad was nominated by the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities for inclusion on UNESCO's World Heritage List, and the nomination was accepted in 2014.
See King Fahd's Fountain, listed in Guinness World Records as the world's highest water fountain. Visible throughout much of Jeddah, it can eject water at a speed of 375 km/h. Notably, it uses saltwater from the Red Sea instead of freshwater and is illuminated by more than 500 LED spotlights at night.
