The itinerary
Day 02
Akagera Wildlife Safari
- After breakfast, drive to Akagera National Park (approximately 2-3 hours).
- Check in to your lodge near the park.
- In the afternoon, embark on a game drive to spot wildlife such as elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, and various antelope species.
Overnight in Akagera.
Day 03
Full-Day Game Drives in Akagera
- Spend the day exploring different areas of Akagera National Park on game drives, with opportunities for wildlife photography.
- Enjoy a picnic lunch in the park.
- Optional boat safari on Lake Ihema to see hippos and crocodiles.

Day 04
Journey to Nyungwe Forest National Park
- Drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park (approximately 6-7 hours).
- Check in to your lodge near Nyungwe Forest.
- Rest and prepare for your activities in Nyungwe.
Day 05
Chimpanzee Trekking and Canopy Walk
- Morning chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe Forest to see these fascinating primates.
- In the afternoon, enjoy a canopy walk in Nyungwe for an incredible treetop perspective of the forest.
Overnight in Nyungwe.
Day 06
Gisenyi and Lake Kivu Escape
- Check out from your lodge in Nyungwe.
- Drive to Gisenyi, a town located on the shores of Lake Kivu (approximately 4-5 hours' drive).
- Check in to your chosen accommodation in Gisenyi/Rubavu.
- Spend the afternoon enjoying beautiful Lake Kivu. You can relax on the beach, swim, or ride a boat.
- In the evening, have dinner at your lodge or explore the local cuisine in Gisenyi.
- Overnight in Gisenyi/Rubavu.
Day 07
Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
- After breakfast, drive to Volcanoes National Park (approximately 2-3 hours).
- Check in to your lodge near the park.
- Rest and prepare for your gorilla trekking adventure.
Day 08
Gorilla Trekking Adventure
- Early morning departure to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking.
- Participate in a gorilla trek in Volcanoes National Park.
- Spend an hour with the gorilla group once located.
- After the trek, return to your lodge for relaxation.
- Depending on your departure plans, you may have time for a cultural visit or souvenir shopping.
- Depart from Kigali International Airport.
