Day 01
Akagera Wildlife Safari and Lake Ihema Boat Adventure
- Start your day early and depart from your accommodation, either in Kigali or near Akagera National Park, before sunrise.
- Arrive at the park entrance and check in with the park authorities.
- Begin your morning wildlife safari, which can be done as a guided game drive or a self-drive if you're experienced and have your own vehicle.
- Look out for wildlife such as elephants, buffaloes, zebras, giraffes, antelopes, and various bird species.
- Enjoy a picnic breakfast at a designated spot within the park.
- Head to one of the designated picnic areas or a lodge within the park for a packed or prepared lunch.
- After lunch, embark on a boat safari on Lake Ihema. This boat ride allows you to spot hippos, crocodiles, waterbirds, and other aquatic wildlife.
- Enjoy the scenic beauty of the lake and its surroundings.
- Continue your game drive or safari in the park to see additional wildlife species and explore different areas of Akagera.
- Capture photos and take in the diverse landscapes.
- As the day draws to a close, exit the park and begin your journey back to Kigali.
- Depending on your departure time, you may have the option to stop at a local restaurant for dinner before returning to your accommodation in Kigali.
