The itinerary

1
Day 01

Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park and Evening Game Drive

After breakfast, you will be picked up from your location in Entebbe or Kampala and transferred to the national park. The drive to the park is approximately 5-6 hours, and along the way, you will get to see the stunning scenery of Uganda's countryside.

You will have a stopover at the equator and enjoy the exciting experience of standing in both the northern and southern hemispheres. You will also witness a range of experiments showing how water swirls in different directions when placed in the northern and southern hemispheres. While here, take as many photos as you can, since photography is allowed.

After the equator experience, you will continue your journey to Mbarara city, with a stop for lunch along the way. After your meal, the journey continues, and as you approach Bushenyi, you will be welcomed by some of the coolest atmospheric air experienced in Uganda, as well as the lush tea plantations on the hilly slopes of Igara and Ishaka.

Once you arrive at the park, you will check into your lodge and relax for a while before setting out on an evening game drive. During the game drive, you will have the opportunity to see various wildlife, including lions, elephants, buffaloes, and many other species. The game drive lasts for 2-3 hours and provides a great opportunity to experience the beauty and serenity of the park at dusk.

Day 02

Morning Game Drive, Crater Lake Visit and Kazinga Channel Cruise

On the second day of the safari, after breakfast, you will start the day with an early morning game drive. The drive will take you to different parts of the park, where you will have the chance to see animals and birds in their natural habitats. You may spot the shy leopard, lions, elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, hyenas, baboons, kobs, monkeys, hippos, and crocodiles, among others.

Additionally, you may also have the opportunity to observe a wide variety of bird species, such as the African fish eagle and various species of kingfishers and hornbills. The park is a birdwatcher's paradise and is home to over 612 bird species, making it a popular destination for birders.

You can also expect to see the beautiful landscapes of the park, including the Kazinga Channel, a narrow strip of water connecting Lake Edward and Lake George, known for its large populations of hippos, elephants, and water birds.

After the morning game drive, you will visit Crater Lake, a stunning location in the heart of the park. The lake was formed by volcanic activity thousands of years ago and is surrounded by lush forest and rolling hills. You will have the opportunity to learn about the history and geology of the area, as well as take in the breathtaking views. Later, you will drive back to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.

In the afternoon, you will enjoy an unforgettable launch cruise along the Kazinga Channel. During the cruise, you will have the chance to see a variety of wildlife, such as hippos, elephants, buffaloes, and many different species of birds. Furthermore, the launch cruise is a relaxing and peaceful way to experience the beauty of the park and its wildlife.

Later, after the cruise, you will return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay.

Day 03

Chimpanzee Tracking in Kyambura Gorge and Return to Kampala

On the final day of the safari, after breakfast, you will participate in a chimpanzee tracking experience in the Kyambura Gorge. This exciting adventure will take you deep into the forest, where you will have the chance to see these fascinating primates in their natural habitat.

After the chimpanzee tracking, you will return to your lodge. Later, pack your bags and head back to Entebbe or Kampala. The drive back to Entebbe or Kampala will take approximately 5-6 hours, and you will arrive in the late afternoon. This 3-day Queen Elizabeth wildlife safari provides a comprehensive and unforgettable experience filled with stunning scenery, diverse wildlife, and exciting adventures.

What to bring

  • Clothing: Lightweight, long-sleeved shirts and pants, T-shirts and shorts, a wide-brimmed hat or cap, and comfortable, sturdy shoes.
  • Rain Gear: A lightweight, waterproof jacket.
  • Swimwear: If water-based activities are planned.
  • Sunglasses and Sunscreen: High-SPF sunscreen for sun protection.
  • Insect Repellent: To protect against mosquitoes and other bugs.
  • Binoculars and Camera: To observe and capture wildlife.
  • Reusable Water Bottle: You will need to stay hydrated in the heat.
  • Travel Documents: Passport, visa, and any required permits. All necessary permits, such as chimpanzee trekking permits, shall be provided by our guide in Uganda, and a copy shall be shared with the client before departure from the country of origin.
  • Medications and First Aid: Personal medications and a basic first-aid kit. All our vehicles are well equipped with fully stocked first-aid kits, though we advise clients with special medications and drugs to carry them along.
  • Cash: For tips, souvenirs, and emergencies. In Uganda, we use Shillings (Ugx/Shs), and exchanging the client's currency to the local currency is highly recommended for easy transactions during the safari and stay. Our guides and drivers are always at your service to assist with this.
  • Travel Adapter: If your devices have different plug types. In Uganda, the associated plug type is G.
  • Daypack: For carrying essentials during safari drives. As Arcadia Safaris, we care about the environment, and we provide our clients with disposable paper bags in this case for sustainable eco-tourism.
