The itinerary

1
Day 01

Transfer to Murchison Falls via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

  • After breakfast, your guide-driver will pick you up from your accommodation and head to Murchison Falls. The highlights of this park include the roaring rapids of the Murchison and the rolling plains of Uganda's largest national park, where you will have the chance to view lions, giraffes, hartebeest, buffalo, and elephants. You will also be fascinated by the concentration of hippos and Nile crocodiles here.
  • For birders, Murchison Falls boasts 450 bird species, including the elusive shoebill stork, dwarf kingfisher, white-thighed hornbill, and Goliath heron, among others. En route, make a stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for your first Big 5 experience, where you will have an hour of rhino tracking. Another stop will be in Masindi to enjoy lunch. Continue to the park and check in to your accommodation to relax in the evening.

Day 02

Game Drive and Boat Trip to the Base of the Falls

  • After an early breakfast, tour the northern section of Murchison, which has a high concentration of savannah wildlife. Enjoy game viewing and photography of elephants, buffalo, waterbucks, giraffes, Uganda kobs, and lions, plus leopards if you are lucky, along with a variety of bird species. Return to your accommodation for lunch, then go for the boat trip to the base of the falls. This trip is said to be the highlight of the safari in Murchison Falls, since it allows you to get up close to the animal species within the water. Cruise past huge hippo pods, crocodiles, bathing buffalo, and numerous aquatic birds adorning the north bank on the way to the mighty waterfalls.
  • You will have an opportunity to take thousands of pictures, so carry your camera with you if you like. You may also proceed for a hike to the top of the falls, which is optional. The hike is strenuous, but the thrill of reaching the top is unforgettable. Miss it only if you must. Return to your accommodation thereafter.

Day 03

Top of the Falls Visit and Return to Entebbe

  • Be up early, have breakfast, then drive to the top of the falls, if you did not hike, to enjoy the spectacular view of the falls. Thereafter, depart for Kampala and connect to Entebbe Airport for your outbound flight back home. Your lunch will be en route, and you will arrive in the late afternoon for your flight.
