Limbe, also known as Victoria, is an OPEC city founded by British Alfred Saker in 1858. It is a seaside resort for tourists due to its beautiful beach, nightlife, attractions, and climate. It sits at the foot of Mt Cameroon and hosts the Cameroon Development Cooperation (CDC), which is the second biggest employer (25,000 employees) in the country after the government. The Cameroon Oil Refinery (SONARA) is also located here.
Major touristic attractions are the Limbe Botanic Garden, Limbe Wildlife Centre, the lava site at Bakingili village, and the Down Beach fish market.
The cement industry and a 15,000-seater soccer stadium are some of the projects currently underway in the town.
