Day 01
George Town Heritage and Temple Tour
- Pick up from your hotel in the George Town area to begin your half-day tour of George Town's main attractions and picturesque sights. You will visit the Clan Jetties located along the waterfront of George Town. Experience firsthand the stilt houses along the coast, where the living heritage of the Chew Clan carries on its daily life.
- Visit the former house of the Chinese Captain, the Pinang Peranakan Mansion, and marvel at its collections, which are not found elsewhere. This elite house holds many recollections from the time when Chinese immigrants intermarried with the locals, creating a fusion of Eastern and local cultures and giving rise to new traditions.
- Embark on a tour of Khoo Kongsi, one of the Khoo family's grandest temples or clan houses. Marvel at the grand architecture, which ranks among the best outside China. Learn about the history, rituals, Feng Shui, and interesting trivia found within Khoo Kongsi.
- Conclude the tour with a visit to the Reclining Buddha Temple (Wat Chaiyamangkalaram) and the Burmese Temple (Dharmikarama Temple). Be amazed by the world's 3rd longest Reclining Buddha statue and observe the differences between the Chinese and Siamese dragons within the Reclining Buddha Temple. Observe the standing Buddha and explore the Guardian of the World (Panca Rupa), counting the number of animal parts that make up this guardian. For luck, toss a few coins into the Fountain of Life at the Burmese Temple. After the tour, you will be safely transferred back to your hotel.
