Embark on a 3-day adventure through Akagera National Park and Nyungwe National Park in Rwanda. Experience both night and morning game drives for excellent wildlife viewing, then head into Nyungwe Forest for a guided chimpanzee trekking experience. Scenic helicopter transfers add a distinctive touch to the journey, while encounters with wildlife such as buffaloes, elephants, lions, leopards, chimpanzees, and colobus monkeys make this a memorable short safari.

You will then head deep into the forest under the supervision of a guide for an opportunity to track these unique chimpanzees at closer range.

The itinerary

Day 01

Arrival and Night Game Drive in Akagera

On arrival at Kigali airport, you will be welcomed by a professional guide who will assist you in boarding a helicopter for your transfer to Akagera National Park. The helicopter will land at Akagera Game Lodge, where you will check in for lunch and some afternoon relaxation.

In the evening, you will be picked up for a night game drive in the park to see animals such as buffaloes, elephants, impalas, leopards, lions, and others. At the end of the game drive, you will return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 02

Morning Safari and Transfer to Nyungwe

After breakfast, you will be picked up for another game drive, giving you the opportunity to spot animals you may have missed during the previous drive. Afterward, you will leave the park and proceed to Kigali town for lunch before continuing your journey to Nyungwe National Park.

Upon arrival in Nyungwe, you will check in at Nyungwe Top View for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 03

Chimpanzee Trekking and Departure

You will have an early breakfast and get ready for your transfer to the park headquarters as early as 5:00 a.m. for a chimpanzee trekking briefing. You will then head deep into the forest under the supervision of a guide for an opportunity to track these unique chimpanzees at closer range.

This experience lasts about 2-3 hours and is unique in its own way. While tracking the chimpanzees, you should also look out for other primates, such as the colobus monkey.

After this amazing experience, you will return to your lodge for an early lunch and then get ready for your helicopter transfer back to Kigali airport for your outbound flight. This will mark the end of our service.
