Bethany, Jericho, and the Jordan River
Travel to Bethany to visit the Greek Orthodox church on the site of the home of Martha and Mary, where you will see the tomb of St. Righteous Lazarus of the Four Days. On the way to the next destination, pass by the Good Samaritan's Lodge, a place mentioned in the New Testament in one of the parables told by Jesus. You will also see the panorama of the Monastery of St. George Khozevita and the cave temple of Elijah the Prophet.
Continue to Jericho, the most ancient city in the world. In Jericho, visit the Tree of Zacchaeus, where the tax collector sat in the hope of seeing the Savior, the Greek Monastery of the Prophet Elisha and the holy spring, and the Mount of Forty Days of Temptation with the Forty Days Monastery, where the Lord fasted for forty days and was tempted. Next, move to the site of Baptism in the Jordan River.
