Itinerary

1. Day 1: Transfer from Dar es Salaam

   • This memorable safari experience will start with Duteni picking you up from the Dar es Salaam Ferry (if coming from Zanzibar), Dar es Salaam International Airport, or a Dar es Salaam area hotel.
   • Transfer you to Nyerere National Park from Dar es Salaam (about a 5-hour drive).
   • Arrive at Nyerere National Park, check into your hotel/camp outside the park, have lunch, and rest.
   • You will have your briefing with a guide and then leave for your riverboat safari at around 4 pm.
   • You will enjoy a sundowner (weather permitting) on a sandbar on the Rufiji River.

   We will then drive you back to your hotel/camp for dinner, rest, and overnight stay.

2. Day 2: Full Day Game Drive

   • Today you will depart early for an exciting full-day safari with a packed lunch out in the bush.
   • This is your chance to get closer to nature and the incredible wild animals. You can spot giraffes, elephants, hippos, crocodiles, impalas, warthogs, zebras, cape buffaloes, kudus, and countless other wild animals and birds. With a bit of luck, you might be able to encounter lions, leopards, etc.
   • Your game drive will end the early evening. You may see more animals as you return to your hotel/camp.

3. Day 3: Transfer to Dar es Salaam

   • After breakfast, you will begin your transfer back to Dar es Salaam. You will arrive at your Dar es Salaam beach hotel in time for lunch. After check-in and lunch, you will have the rest of the day to enjoy the beach, the swimming pool, and the hotel surroundings.

4. Day 4: Transfer to Mikumi National Park

   • Today, early morning (after breakfast), you will depart metro Dar es Salaam and drive about 5 hours west to Mikumi National Park. You will drive through beautiful landscapes and several small towns and villages along the way.
   • Upon arrival in Mikumi, you will check in at your hotel and have lunch.
   • Early evening, you will visit a local nearby village where you will have an opportunity to respectfully interact with our host villagers, learn about their culture, and experience their way of life.

   After the tour, you will return to your hotel for dinner, rest, and overnight stay.

5. Day 5: A Safari Day

   • You will wake up early morning for breakfast. Afterwards, you will start your game drive to spot wild animals.
   • Sometime in the early afternoon, you will break for lunch. You will then continue with your safari.
   • At approximately 4 pm, you will begin your transfer back to Dar es Salaam.
