Itinerary

1. Day 1: Arrival - Welcome/Karibu Tanzania

   • On arrival at Julius Nyerere International Airport, you will meet our driver, who will transfer you to your Dar Es Salaam Hotel located by the beach
   • Given the long flight from your home country and the flight arrival time, once you are checked in at the hotel, you will unwind and rest. Meals will be provided on a half-board basis (breakfast, lunch, or dinner).

2. Day 2: Relaxing at Dar es Salaam Hotel

   • Today you will meet with your curator to review the itinerary and plans for the upcoming days.
   • You will get to relax and enjoy the beautiful view of the ocean from the hotel; relax by swimming and or at the spa (optional with surcharge) to make you feel refreshed and ready.

3. Day 3: Dar es Salaam Cultural/City Tour

   • After breakfast at approximately 9:00 am, your driver will pick you up from your hotel and drive you for a Dar es Salaam day tour.
   • During this tour, you will visit many places of historical and cultural significance to the city and the country. You will also get to see how locals go about their daily lives. The tour includes stops at Independence Tower, the Azania Front Church, Saint Joseph Cathedral, Askari Monument, the Fish Market, the National Museum, Kariakoo Market, Mwenge Wood Carvers Market and Makumbusho Village (where you will have a chance to learn about Tanzanian culture and practice your dance moves with Tanzania traditional dances).
   • After the tour, you will return to your hotel to have lunch and rest.
   • Your dinner and overnight stay will be at your hotel.

4. Day 4: Transfer From Dar es Salaam to Nyerere National Park

   • After breakfast, at approximately 7:30 am, your driver will pick you up from your hotel in Dar es Salaam and drive you directly to Nyerere National Park (part of the largest game reserve in Africa).
   • One significant advantage of driving to Nyerere National Park (as opposed to flying) is you will get a chance to see the countryside. As you move away from metro Dar es Salaam the scenery and landscape, slowly change. You will see beautiful landscapes as you pass through village after village and see villagers farming and going about their daily lives.
   • Upon arrival at Nyerere National Park, you will check in at your hotel.
   • At around 4:00 pm, you will depart for a sunset riverboat safari along the great Rufiji River to spot hippos, crocodiles, and birds and enjoy the spectacular sunset.

5. Day 5: Full-Day Game Drive at Nyerere National Park

   • After breakfast, you will depart early for an exciting full-day safari with packed lunch out in the bush.
   • Our driver will pick you up from the hotel and take you for a full-day game drive through the scenic and beautiful Nyerere National Park.
   • This is your chance to get closer to nature and the majestic wild animals. You'll have a pretty good chance of seeing giraffes, elephants, hippos, crocodiles, impalas, warthogs, zebras, Cape buffaloes, kudus and countless other wild animals and birds. 
   • With a bit of luck, you might be able to encounter lions and leopards.
   • During your game drive, you will experience the feeling of exclusiveness as the park is huge and you will likely not see many other safari vehicles around.
   • Your game drive will end in the evening. You may see more animals as you head back to your hotel/camp for dinner and an overnight stay.

6. Day 6: Full-Day Safari at Nyerere National Park

   • After an early breakfast, you will depart from the hotel for an en-route game drive to the hot spring.
   • It will be another day of enjoying nature and spotting wild animals at the largest game reserve in Africa, which is bigger than the country of the Netherlands. Packed lunch will be included
   • During the game drive, you will stop at the natural hot spring, where you can swim in the naturally warm water.
   • Later, you will drive back to your hotel, which faces the great Rufiji River, for dinner and relaxation.

7. Day 7: Night Game Drive/Night Safari at Nyerere National Park

   • Today, you will spend your morning and afternoon relaxing at your hotel while enjoying the view of the Rufiji River.
   • In the evening, we will pick you up and take you to an experience that is sure to leave a lasting impression on you, our high-demand night safari! During the night safari, you will see lots of nocturnal animals, rodents, birds and a variety of mammals that you don’t normally see during the day. Our highly skilled safari guides will take you on a wild yet safe, meticulous night ride, searching and spotting all the amazing wildlife and activities that happen in the wild after sunset. The night safari will last for about 4 hours.
   • After the night game drive, you will return to the hotel.

8. Day 8: Nyerere National Park to Zanzibar Island

   • In the morning, your driver will pick you up from the hotel and take you for a village tour, where you will spend time with the indigenous tribe(s).
   • The village tour offers a memorable opportunity to mingle with the villagers who have lived there for generations and learn about their history, culture, traditions and way of life. Packed lunch will be included.
   • After lunch, your driver will take you to the airstrip for your flight to Zanzibar. Upon arrival at Zanzibar Airport, you will meet your driver, who will transfer you to the Marijani Hotel.
   • After checking into your room, your curator will sit down with you to review your itinerary and plans for the following
     days.

9. Day 9: Jozani Forest/Buterfly Center in Zanzibar Island

   • After breakfast, at approximately 8:30 am, you will visit Jozani Forest (a national park) declared a nature reserve in the 1960s. The park is home to many endemic species of flora and fauna such as; red Colobus monkeys, the magical world of the Zanzibar mangroves, bushbucks and impressive trees and plants.
   • Once you are done with Jozani Forest, you will visit a nearby Butterfly Center. This delightful attraction is home to landscaped gardens that mimic the butterflies’ natural rainforest habitats. You will explore at your leisure while butterflies fly all around you.
   • Alternatively, you could visit a spice farm to learn about the many spices the island of Zanzibar has been known for. You will then return to your hotel and spend your evening relaxing by the beach.

10. Day 10: Zanzibar Island

    • After breakfast, your driver will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the Nungwi Turtle Aquarium area, where you will enjoy and experience a unique opportunity to swim with turtles.
    • You will then have lunch and after lunch, go for a Maasai tour to learn about the Maasai tribe and their culture.
    • After that, you will go back to your hotel.  

11. Day 11:Rest/Beach Day at Zanzibar Island

    • This is a relaxing day and resting by your hotel's private beach.
    • You will enjoy swimming in the turquoise Indian Ocean water. You can also just relax on the beach while sipping your favorite drink or reading a book.
    •  Alternatively, we can also arrange (with a surcharge) some ocean/water activities (jet skiing, diving, fishing) for you.

12. Day 12: Swimming in Cave and Rock Restaurant in Zanzibar Island

    • After breakfast, your driver will pick you up from the hotel and swim at the famous Kuza Cave, where you will enjoy the crystal-clear healing mineral water pool.
    • Your driver will, later on, take you to the beautiful and one-of-a-kind Rock Restaurant for lunch (at your own expense).
    • After lunch, you will return to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

13. Day 13: Stone Town Tour (A UNESCO Heritage Site) and Transfer to Dar Es Salaam

    • After breakfast, you will visit Stone Town, a UNESCO Heritage Site. Afterwards, you can visit the town while buying souvenirs to take home.
    • After that, your driver will take you for lunch ( at your own expense). At 2:00 pm, your driver will take you to the (boat) fast ferry for your departure to Dar es Salaam.
    • Upon arrival in Dar es Salaam, your driver will pick you up from the ferry and take you to a hotel.

14. Day 14: Goodbye/Kwaheri - Departure Back to Your Country

    • Depending on your flight time, your driver will come (several hours in advance) and pick you up from your Dar es Salaam hotel, and transfer you to Julius Nyerere International Airport for your departure.
    • Remember to carry your valuables and your passport.
    • We wish you a pleasant and safe journey back home.
