Bethany, Mt. Nebo, Madaba and Machaerus
Drive to the Jordan Valley towards Bethany at the Jordan River. This is the place where the baptism of Jesus Christ by John the Baptist took place.
Have a look at Elijah's Hill, where Prophet Elijah ascended to heaven.
Proceed to Mt. Nebo, the place where Prophet Moses gazed at the Promised Land before he died.
Visit the old monastery overlooking the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and parts of the Holy Land.
Later, move towards Madaba to see the famous 6th-century mosaic map of Palestine in St. George's Church.
Continue to Machaerus, the hilltop stronghold of Herod the Great, King of Judea. His son, Herod Antipas, inherited the fortress. He ordered the beheading of John the Baptist after Salome's fateful dance at this site. Walk for 30 minutes to reach the top of the hill.
